Is it me, or does Facebook really Suck? It's really starting to separate everyone into individual subgroups and private groups and secret groups. It's becoming to difficult to keep up with. I personally don't do FB but Tyler does some. The Cancuncare Forum works much better at keeping all of us in one spot. It just feels more like a community than FB does. I guess that's my personal opinion. When we first came to TTR one of the aspects that we loved was how everyone was so friendly and it was like a family. The Cancuncare forum really does a good job of keeping that same feeling. I don't get that from FB, maybe it's just me but it feels like the community is starting to separate and become more segregated. :(

I get the point that groups want to splinter off a little bit, so you can just talk to people "in the group", and Facebook is good for that, and many other things. It limits chatter that isn't necessary.

I would just hope that people would continue to use this page as well, and not just the other private ones. It seems to me there are a few people who were more regular on here that don't post as much anymore. Maybe that will change when it re-opens.

I see the value of both. I love FB not just for TTR things but I am a group junkie... I am in so many different FB groups for so many different things and I enjoy keeping up with my communities. I am also involved in many secret or closed Facebook groups that are TTR related.

I fully support CCC and everything that Steve has done and I check it and post multiple times per day. One of the things that private Facebook groups allow you to do is share photos and connect closer to people that you may not want the entire population of CCC to see and it also allows you to say things that you may not be able to say in such a permanent forever location such as CCC.

I know that if I post something here that it can be found by anyone on the internet for forever and a day! That is completely cool for some topics but it is not OK for everything. If it's in a secret FB group then it is only available to those in the group. That tightknit group allows me to say and post more things than I normally would in a very public location such as this...

    My two cents are deposited.

    Nikki

I get all of that, but as time proceeds, it appears to me that FB is getting more and more segregated into small groups. Tyler keeps up with our close friends there and posts private pictures we wouldn't want to share with everyone. I get all of that, it just feels like everytime he goes on FB there are new groups popping up and everyone is starting to spread out. I don't have the time to even begin to try to keep up with all of them. CCC tends to work better for me for keeping up with everything but it doesn't feel like it's being utilized as much as before the shutdown. Hopefully it will get back to where it was. I agree FB is probably a good way for some to connect but how many different groups will it eventually spread into? Social media is a scary thing to me. I think I'll keep to CCC.
Just my 2 cents as well......

I'm more of a fan of CCC because I can check it from work haha. Work has blocked FB and I hate using FB on my phone. The nice thing like Nikki said is that we can have a private group on FB just for out time frame of TTR regulars, that we can post anything and not have to worry about it making it "viral".

One thing I've noticed is there is a TON of crying about just about everything on the FB group! Everyone is so worried about everything but nobody has been to the new resort yet so nobody actually has any real information just a bunch of rumors. Like chill out people and just wait till you get to see if for yourself! LOL

I like this forum way better because it feels more like a great group of friends that have known each other forever! :D:marshe:

I primarily use CCC thought the day, and I enjoy talking on here. I am in some facebook groups, but I tend not to have the lengthy replies on FB that I do on CancunCare. I feel like on here if I am detailed in my explanations it might help someone down the road when they are reading it. Even if they don't reply and it is a year from now. It's kind of a more permanent thing, so I don't feel like the time I put into a post is wasted, whereas tomorrow content is buried on FB, never to be seen again.

With Facebook I just crack jokes here and there, or put up the occasional stupid ass picture. It's more of a quick thing to me, and I don't spend much time on it. I know it seems weird, because on here I appear to be on the PC often, but really it's just killing time at work. Post work hours and on the weekend, you will very rarely see anything from me, as I am never on a computer. And at that I just use my phone briefly for Facebook. Devices and social media aren't really my thing when real life is available.

The one positive thing about the facebook groups is that it is a little easier to actually learn real names and figure out who people are. I find myself walking around like an idiot most times at Temptation like "I think recognize this person, but I'm not sure". So please if anyone ever sees me, just say hi and lets party it up! (feel free to friend me on facebook if you would like though "Steve Inglese")

People bitch and complain and say more on facebook about EVERYTHING, then they ever would in real life. It's really strange to me.

I remember when facebook was invented and you needed a college email address to even be on it. Those were the good old days were it was just funny pictures, stories, figuring out where the next party was, and what road trip we were going on. Now it's just an advertisement ridden soapbox about any and everything under the sun.

I think eventually it will be all Facebook and I'm pretty sure that's not a good thing.........but it looks headed that way. Just a couple years ago Temptation FB was nothing. Times have changed. There is a lot more PM'ING on FB and no one is looking over your shoulder.......or are they? Many folks have developed their own groups via email. Time changes everything........we'll see what developes

We haven't tried the FB because we are concerned that our group status will be visible to our other friends. Seems much less private. I'm not curious enough to create a dummy account. CCC works for us.
