I have always noticed as long as I stick to one thing while Drinking. If I am drinking Scotch, I will not drink anything else that night. If I am drinking beer, same thing. Never switch. Has worked for me for the most part.
3 great cures: Advocare Rehydrate gel, Never Hungover (it's the one in white bottle with red cross mentioned earlier) and ORS (bought them online) actually got that idea off of CCC Depending on how much was drank, I will take one and a bottle of water before bed and maybe one in the morning with a bottle of water. Also the green juice at TTR works very well and a drunken monkey (both with a bit of vodka in them All three above mentioned things have lots of electrolytes. The water is a must, hydration is crucial. One of the reasons we love the bubba mugs. Can start with a drink, next one water, etc. alternate. And no reason to always take every shot that comes your way. Just pretend to fall and laugh off the spilt drink.
@thorington11 Excedrin contains acetaminophen (Tylenol). Mixing acetaminophen and alcohol is a quick way find yourself in acute liver failure. Sounds like you have been lucky so far...
My hangover cure is Pepcid for the stomach side and good old Ibuprofen for the headache. Usually feeling like new after a light breakfast.
So went out to see what this NUUN product is all about and they have many different product lines. Which ones do you use or recommend.
Amazon.com: Nuun Hydration: Electrolyte Drink Tablets, Tropical, Box of 4 Tubes: Health & Personal Care This is the NUUN we ordered the last time and it worked really well. It is just so easy to carry with us which is the main reason I like them. We put it in one of the large bottles of water they leave in the room in the morning. Then every time we go to the room we drink some. We try to have it finished before diner. Again this and the fact I don't drink any sugar in my drinks helps so much with lasting the week.
Milk Thistle assists the liver function so one before and one after seems to work for this professional alk.
You are completely right, if I was taking either to excess or regularly I would be more worried. As someone who has chronic migraines and Excedrin is the only OTC that works, I have done extensive research on the pairing of alcohol and Acetaminophen. 10,000 people who participated in a U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. It included questions about alcohol consumption, use of acetaminophen and health problems. Of those 10,000 only 1.2% reported any kidney discomfort/dysfunction in he 10 years following the Survey. But thank you for putting that info out there, there are probably people on this thread that didn't know about the potential danger of mixing the two, especially at the levels of alcohol intoxication we sometimes get at TTR!
The survey you quoted says "kidney'. It's the liver that takes the punch. The awesome thing is that the liver is the most resilient and only truly self-healing organ in the body.
