This will be Magnificent! While the opening is 2 years away......if it in fact happens ....will be a majar plus for OR. The beaches alone in the DR are worth a visit. Let's hope it actually happens. TTR is a great place and the new rennovations.....rebuilds actually will be great! The preliminary photos show a beautiful Resort! No doubt about it. But..........if TTR has a weak point.........it's the beach. The "new" resort in the DR will truly be a game changer!
Oddly enough, I have always thought one of the features that makes TTR work is the beach. It's not bad, but definitely not up to the same level as the resorts facing open ocean with the bigger waves, beautiful sand, and amazing color. At TTR the pool remains a very attractive alternative which is why many congregate there. This helps get the party rolling. Smaller, intimate areas foster conversation with the neighbors, and soon you have a party. A bigger pool or an expansive, beautiful beach might spread the crowd a little thin and change the atmosphere. Just an observation and theory.
Ehhhhhh..........we'd love a nice Beach! Not at all worried about the party................it'll happen!
The beaches in DR are definitely better, however, the water itself is often hit or miss. You definitely see a lot more seaweed than in other areas of the Caribbean. In DR, many women, particularly European visitors, walk around the beach topless anyway, so I don't know if the Temptations is really filling any particular niche in that regard. Punta Cana doesn't have a whole lot to offer. It's pretty much a dump littered with new resorts, impoverished areas, and dead resorts which are no longer in business). The resort staff don't even live there, Most commute from a small town called Higuey (about 45 minutes from Punta Cana). The night life options are limited to the club at the Hard Rock, Imagine (a nightclub built within an underground cave, and Drink Point (an open air lounge/bar known as a tourist and local haven, as well as a pick-up spot for Dominican working girls). There is a clothing optional resort in Puerto Plata called Caliente Caribe. Maybe Temptations is going for that demographic.
I am Dominican and would not go out of the resort unless its with a guard. I feel 91532478536475% safer in Cancun
Yeah...it's not that the Dominican people are nefarious, but times are hard on that island. Mexico is a second world country; DR is not quite there yet. Folks struggle to get by there, and a tourist flashing money around is often too enticing to pass up.
We were recently at Oasis Sens in Cancun and that was one thing we notice. Because it was so spread out and there was a lot more people down by the beach, it really didn't provide the social atmosphere to easily meet more people.
