It is on page 2 of "Is Temptation tying to become breathless?"

This was the first post about it.

Yeah...that's not very hygienic. I would go "all in" on the wager that they were somehow getting their hands slapped by health department officials. While it probably hasn't happened to date, a good norovirus outbreak would make standing in line seem pleasurable by comparison. I am not doubting the practicality of the mugs; I am just thinking from the owner and management perspective.

I am not sure how it would be any heath code infraction to take a mug behind the bar, wash it out, and make a drink in it. If you put your empty cup on the bar, they would take it and make a new drink in it. I mean they may get you a new glass, but if you were ordering the same thing they might just fill it up again.

The same can be said at home. If I am sitting at the bar and finish my rum and coke, my bartender is normally just going to take my cup, dump out the old ice and straw, fill it with new ice (using the ice scoop) and make a new drink behind the bar then serve it to me.

That's NOT how it's "supposed" to be. LOL. You should get a new glass/cup every time you are served. It's the same situation as getting a new plate each time you visit a buffet. Anyone working in the food safety industry will tell you that. However, bars are often not the most compliant businesses. All you have to do if look at the "communal beer nuts" that you see in a lot of places.

Yea I hear you, but I have never worked in a restaurant where we were trained to get a customer a new glass for every refill from the soda fountain. And I have waited tables at lots of corporate restaurants back in the day.

We always bring our own dish soap and wash our Bubba/Yeti's in our room daily. I really believe that they have to be cleaner than those plastic cups that the staff "wash" 50 at a time in the sink behind the bar. When I go to a restaurant in the U.S. and get a refill on my ice tea or water, many times the wait staff just brings over a pitcher and pours more in my glass. How is that any difference than the TTR bartenders adding more liquids to my Bubba?

I absolutely think a personal mug, Bubba or other, is a must and much safer on the germ front. We go up to the bar and ask for a drink then take the lids off and hold the lids/straws ourselves while they clean and refill. I also like to wash the mugs every day in the room, a little bottle of dish soap and sponge done. Then again the amount of Tequila that is in the drink and in the belly should kill any unwanted germs. lol
