As a way to help pass the time until our December trip, we've decided to begin auditioning new hangover preventatives and remedies. What are your go-to moves when you're in your 40s but still want to party for a week like you're in your 20s? And is it better to take preventative measures the night before, or deal with it the next morning--or both?
Allegedly asparagus contains something that helps your liver process the alcohol, so I always (try to remember to) either eat some, or I also have extract tabs. I will say that the times I have remembered, I do feel much better than I would normally expect the following day, even after heavy drinking. I also have friends who have tried it and agree. I've read studies both pro & con, so, as with everything, who really knows. I've also read various studies that something in Sprite (specifically Sprite) has been 'proven' to help with hangovers. Somebody really needs to get on a hangover preventative/cure - they'd make millions!
Lots of water (both while drinking and after) and a daily vitamin with a lot of B vitamins (Centrum Energy or a B-complex). That gets us through 9 days of day+night drinking. We are in our forties.
As stated above, WATER, lot's of WATER!!!! Can't stress this enough! Also, there are a few products that work pretty well. We were in Las Vegas a couple of years ago and took a product that was in a bottle like the 5 hour energy supplements come in. It was a white bottle with a red medical cross on the label. WORKED GREAT. Was mainly vitamin B but had some extracts in it. You took it Before going out and drinking. And then of course there is always the good old Bloody Mary. The darker the better! Zing Zang is a great mixer, doesn't need anything but some Bacon Vodka!!!
Pediolyte. Like what kids take when dehydrated. We bring powdered packets and mix it in a bottle of water before bed and drink it's That and the obvious answer which always helps everyone feel better... sex, lots of sex. But of course that also dehydrates you. So have a pediolyte after. And then when you feel better repeat.
I have nothing new to offer but this will increase my post count The headache associated with a hangover is typically dehydration. I will slam a full bottle of water before bed and drink some more in the morning, then coffee with breakfast and by then good to go.
Just keep drinking you can't get a hangover if you stay drunk. LOL Lots of water works for us or just get back on the horse that threw you. T
We always have an electrolyte replacement (like the powder you mix with water) before bed and/or with breakfast. Ira doesn't drink much and I don't get bad hangovers but I would rather be safe then sorry Nikki
