Trust me, I don't get mad. Just find it amusing that people who have no connection to the project and see the occasional picture taken from afar think they know better than the people actually building it. Comes across as pompous.

The construction style of mexico is very similar to the Brazilian, and it differs in many characteristics of the Americans. The deadline is tight, there is no possibility of errors, but here in Brazil it is common to see buildings in these characteristics are ready in 4 months

I'll buy that. I never saw any literature or stuff on their website, just pretty much just the concept drawing. I remember some discussion about 7/10 floors, and some wondered if the 7 was hotel part, and the other 3 were bars and restaurants. Guess seven is the total. Means less sun blocking the pool as well.

I may be wrong, but it also seems like the floors were finished quicker as they moved up?

I like the looks of the progress, and the fact that we seem to be getting pictures at a faster rate as well.

I took those pics around lunch today, from the Starbucks area across street. We used the smart car option today and went downtown and have not seen pics from that side. I have no idea if they will finish on time, but they have definetely completed a lot since we were here two months ago. A couple observations that I made is it sits much higher off the street now, and closer to street. Also, the old rooms to the left (sexy pool side) have no doors and look empty and I saw no one working on them. The right side was not visible from street. The visible work was going on at the new building. Just my observations.

Thanks for the pics, I saw them in the FB group and wasn't sure if it was someone here or I would have given a credit. It's impossible to reconcile FB names with CCC usernames, but much appreciated. There were some pics from the beachside posted yesterday and copied to here, I'll be there on Tuesday too for the Boobs Cruise so will take more then.

Yeah, you can see the drive up drop off ramp and steps to what will be the lobby, first time we have seen a clear view of that. The ground floor either side of the drive up ramp will be staff offices.

Saw the left side (looking from the road) at the Boobs Cruise a week or so ago and there was a lot of activity but you could only see it from the beach. The right side, I haven't been up that way but the previous pics I posted a few days ago show some near finished rooms. They have 200 workers at the moment so finishing old rooms up is probably not a priority with 14 weeks to go. They can finish up scores of rooms a day with the amount of workers on the job.

I'm such a 'sad person' I checked the internet archive site that takes snapshots of what websites displayed from months or years ago, just to check I was correct. It was complicated by the fact that they dispensed with their old site and their new one only has only been online since September, but the promo brochure they gave me in April (I got one when there was only 2 in existence) said 7 storeys. Thinking about it later, I wasn't sure if it meant 7 "more" storeys than existing (which was 3) because it didn't match the picture on the front. Anyway, it's immaterial, we all know what they are doing now.

    Totally agree. :)

We are currently building a house in Cancun and there's lot's of things done very differently to how it would be done in the UK, and I am sure in the US and Canada too. Putting aside method of construction, there are a number of things that might slow down construction speed. None of which they have any issue with it seems.

    Problems with:
    • Permits
    • Cash Flow
    • Labour
    • Materials
    • Weather
I am sure the Project Manager recognised all those, built in a little contingency and then recommended an opening date. This is a big bucks project, they aren't going to risk not being ready and turning people away. Or being ready too early, and have an empty hotel sitting there with no bookings. They're not building a garden shed on their days off, accuracy of opening date is paramount to their business.

To be frank, the thing that frustrates me most about the "negative nellies" is that many of them seem to think Mexicans are not capable of making accurate decisions and forecasts. I am sure they didn't just ask Juan who works the local Taco stand to make their decisions. We have smart, educated people here too and for a project this size Temptation will have sought the best.

Everyone who is actually in the know that I hear from says they are ahead of schedule (and have always have said that). I cannot see any possible benefit for them to deliberately lie.

The hotel will be open on 15 August and we are booked for opening day.

It is a glass half empty or half scenario, simple
Enough. I choose to go with the half full approach. Thanks for the updates , each photo and progress picture escalates the excitement. Sitting on my couch in Tn their is nothing I can do to expedite the process , so I will just send out my positive vibes to all those working on it, kick ass the next 3 months. Lol.
