Thanks, cool info! We're so counting the days! But for us is the other way around, here in Chile is the fall what just started so our waitng is gonna be cold and it will feel longer for sure .
The description of the room we're booked made us think there were gonna be rooms in that area (look at the end of it)... maybe there will be! In that case we're gonna be hanging from tones of hope, happiness, fun and very little of structure I think! (Just joking, of course they know what they do)

OK...........I showed a Building Code Manager here in VA the schematic/conceptual drawing of the proposed "tower" at TTR.......along with the photos of the rebar construction taking place currently. He indicated he'd never stay at the resort.................along with he wouldn't recommend anyone staying there. I dunno.................................he doesnt know Cancun......maybe concrete and rebar construction is stronger there. And...................probably they do better work in Cancun!

At any rate.............we'll be there next summer for 10 days or so! We love the place!

 

I'll be in a quiet pool room, I'll be fine.

 

And we'll be in the 5000 block but Bash and the buffet are at the bottom of the tower! Paty O's or Bash is the best part of TTR!

 

2 years ago.......a 4.0 quake..................16 years ago a 7.7 quake.........shake rattle and roll!

 

Just remember that the original TTR buildings(using the same construction methods) stood up to the most powerful hurricane(Hurricane Wilma) to ever hit the Yucatan peninsula and survived without any major damage !!! I think that they know what they are doing and doing it right for where they are located.

Oh i get it! It did work before and has worked since. Building codes are very obviously different in Cancun........and I recognize that the US has some wild regulations. I just thought the guys perspective was very interesting.

 

It's pretty much how they make bridges pillars in the states, concrete and rebar and they seem to hold up pretty good, you may want to tell your building code manager to stay off bridges too.
