From what we're hearing, just saving pool chairs with T-Shirts is going to be pushing boundaries! With that being said, We're booked for the first week so I can GARAUNTEE that I'll be pushing some boundaries!
Please do share. You are hearing we won't be allowed to save chairs? Or that there will be so many it won't be an issue? It looks like there will be a lot more room but of course there will always be preferred spots near the bar, near the entertainment, near the naked ladies etc.
If they had some type of cubby/locker type space setup near the pool, then I bet that would cut down on the number of chairs being "saved". Now I am not talking about lockers like at a water-park with a key, but just some place just to store a few items of to the side. This was you aren't one of the patrons taking a chair space that you never use. I know many people in my group(s) that come to the pool with very little and just need a place for their floppers and a towel. (a pile of footwear by that one tree probably isn't going to fly anymore.)
We met someone a few years ago that knows the owners pretty well, ie; goes to dinner with them and such. We didn't post anything because we don't want to stir up the forum on an unknown but he informed us that there are DEFINATELY some changes coming. The ownership is tired of being known in Cancun and Mexico as the people that own "that" resort. It appears along with the remodel there will be some changes to make it appear more upscale. No saving pool chairs with T-Shirts or towels. Not sure how they enforce this. Also no HUGE bubba mugs, seemed strange sense they sold them in the gift shop. Most of the changes were about cosmetic issues. The way they are perceived. I think one of the biggest issues was "no entertainment staff" at least not in the former form. They would be called something different and they're duties will be different. Something along the way of Breathless or Live Aqua. Haven't been to either so I can't speak to what that could be. But I will say that I CHOOSE not to go to either of those places due to the Lack of Party atmosphere. I guess only time can tell! Can't wait to go for the soft opening and get these issues behind me.
I know how you feel. Hopefully none of this is true but it did make sense that they would want to change there image a bit.
The only reason we liked going is the vibe and super fun atmosphere. If that goes away and they charge way more to go I just don't see the point. Only time will tell I guess.
