Yeah it has, they were just concrete shells last I saw. No windows, air con, plumbing, electrics all stripped out.

Construction started (as opposed to demolition, leveling, ground works etc) around New Year, so 3 and a half months of actual building to get this far. We can't see the left side of the tower from this pic but, last I saw of it, it was more advanced than the right side.

They are constructing the floor of the 4th storey on the right side, so they have 3 more floors to do plus the roof and 4 and a half months left. So, they are more than 50% of the way there with about 20% more time left than they had to get this far.

I'm no expert but I'd guess that the actual construction is the slow part. Fitting out with electrics, plumbing, finishing etc wont take long at all, and I'd bet that is already being worked on with the lowest floors.

    Totally agree Mate!
I have never had any doubts.

I stay outta this rhetoric deliberately, other than my declaration post last summer, that the DeLa Pena' are very influential and will make sure the place is open on time.
Re-opening is almost a civic pride project.

On cheaptickets they have rooms but only bash tower and suites and I dare not say the prices as it may cause another riot :)

We are booked for the opening and confident it will all work out so definitely not taking that bet Steve. If it doesn't I am hopeful they would either move us to Desire or to regular reno rooms and give us a voucher for future tower stays.

We will just have to counter balance all of the opening construction worker butt crack with plenty of Malibu strings / wicked weasel sexy ass crack.

I know a few years back when the talk of construction started, there was talk that they'd remain open whilst doing a renovation (closing off half of the resort). My opinion is that when it opens it'll be similar to that i.e. open, but still under construction. If the main tower block isn't ready they'll move resources to the parts that can be utilised. I'm assuming the old Nice Shoes is still standing at this point?

Where they'll be up to by August....anyone's guess. I work for a construction company. I visited a hotel we're building last month - five floors, 150 rooms. Very similar to TTR, including concrete frame (but with structural steel to the 5th floor). Including demolition of the previous building this job is scheduled to be 14 months in total, and is at the 11-month mark. When I visited they were close to water-tight (e.g. windows and roof fitted) and starting the internal fit-out. They're working day and night to get it ready for June. This is pretty standard over here, about 3 months from 'shell of a building' to complete. TTR is over twice the size of this (considering the rooms that need renovating too), so I'd guess they'll need at least 3 months for the internal work. For me, the benchmark for if they'll be open in time for August will be if they're water tight by mid-May. If they haven't started the internal fit-out by then (even if it's just for renovated rooms) then there may be some delay.

Either way, I'm booking my flights soon. If TTR isn't open I'm going to try Desire for a week and maybe GP for another.

Thank you for the reassurance! We needed it. Tyler agrees with you and has been trying to reassure me but I was getting a little uptight when we just saw it in January and I don't see much movement but Tyler told me that a ton of work had been done! He agrees also that the textile work will go quickly. So hoping and praying for them to safely work hard and get the job done quickly! I did flash them my tits from the beach, not sure if that helped or not! LOL
