Being in the Architectural field for way longer than I care to admit, I agree with everyone that it is highly doubtful that the tower will be anywhere near completion by August....even without US construction safety standards.
My question then becomes "What will they do with all the people who have booked rooms in the new tower"? There are only so many existing, renovated rooms that are not already booked to move people in to.
The wife and I enjoy the balcony jacuzzi room and wanted to book one in the Lush Tower but now are reconsidering just booking one of the original jacuzzi rooms to be on the safe side.
I asked this question directly to the TTR website several days ago, but have yet to get a reply.

That goes along with what I was thinking. Are they already taking reservations for the tower? Or, are they only booking the existing rooms at this point till they get closer to completion? That could explain some higher rates if they are low on supply.

We went with a tower room. If they are not ready then I would expect either...

    A) put us in a regular room and give us a free equivalent night voucher for a future stay in the tower.

    B) move us to Desire

The tower rooms are more expensive so just moving us to the regular rooms wouldn't fly and I am sure TTR wouldn't want to upset their most loyal guests who are coming back immediately and booking those premium rooms.

They are booking the tower rooms for August 15th. The only type of room they don't have available is the penthouse suite. Either holding them for the right people or they know they are not going to be ready.

If the tower isn't substantially complete......the structure itself, how in the world could they have areas below that open......like the lobby, Bash, the buffet etc.? Plus.......how then do you meld constructions workers with resort Guests?

    I'm still thinking March/April 2018 for COMPLETION!

Imagine the shitstorm the front desk (wherever that might be) person will be in when they have to explain to people expecting a tower room that they are going to be parked in a renovated room on the end. Or even worse, to every guest that the place is simply not ready and EVERYONE is being shipped to another hotel. Desire isn't that big, nor do they want to reduce potential bookings on high priced rooms there by flooding it with freebies from the unfinished TTR. It would be much cheaper for them to rebook everyone at an Oasis or GP, or someplace similar. That way you can still sell the high priced Desire rooms. And if we've learned anything about TTR management, they'll do what is in their best interest, meaning most profitable for them. Either way I don't want to be the front desk person that gets to try and explain this in August. Best to avoid the whole problem by getting every available construction crew in the Yucatan on it NOW!

Thinking about the end of September, not real sure that is a safe booking at this point.

We are thinking about the same time frame 09/30 to 10/08, lot's of our TTR friends going these dates but may put it off until the end of October 10/28 to 11/05, the later dates fits into our schedule slightly better, lots going on in our lives at this time to make a solid booking date at this point and don't really want to vacation at a active construction site. We will make a decision later this year by keeping up on the construction progress or put it off entirely until next year. We haven't seen any don't wait book today deals for these times.
