As I understand the way this was being done was that the focus for the first phase was to demolish then build the new structure. Once that was done then the crews would be split into smaller groups doing the rehab on the rest of the resort. Plus, I imagine the company that was contracted with, to produce the furnishings and décor for the reno, won't make delivery on the bulk of the wallpaper, cabinets, beds etc. till mid march or so.
Those textiles aren't just available, they have to be created specifically for the job and that takes time.

I'll go out on a limb and be willing to bet money that the bulk of the resort will be open on time. As I stated before, they have a lot on the line to get this done on time. Plus, another aspect to keep in mind is that this isn't the U.S. where everything has to go through committee's and sub committee's and be approved by the EPA and other regulatory commissions that drag their feet to justify there positions. It's Mexico! Make your gov't "Donation"
and away you go.

What I meant when I said have not touched was that they have not done anything to them. No demo inside the rooms. Yes I know they were only demoing the center and rebuilding that and then just redoing the rooms on both sides. But like I said some of the rooms still have the patio chairs on the balcony.

 

The building on the other side off the beach looks like all the demo work inside has been done and they were redoing the inside walls fixing holes and smoothing them out.
