Is anybody moving here, anymore?

I know quite a few people who live here, but few are recent arrivals. Are lots of people moving here, and I just don't know it?

Has Mexico lost some of its "shine"?

 

Cancun is a pretty big city, but we still enjoy fresh air, owing to the sea being nearby and there being almost zero manufacturing or heavy industry (refining) here.

It is the most convenient city I've ever lived in, but it helps that I live in the commercial center. There are five banks within five minutes walk of my house, two supermarkets within a half mile radius, the largest mall in town just a 12 min walk and it has something like a 14 theater movie theater.

But the biggest plus, in comparing convenience, is the easy access to quality medical care that we enjoy here. Same day appointments to see a medical specialist of your choice is the norm here.

As for the HZ, we get to enjoy all the attractions of the HZ without ever having to get on a plane.... The beaches and restaurants of the HZ are just minutes away by car; and, if we want to, we can book an AI for a "mini vacantion." Isla Mujeres is a 25 min ferry ride away and we often go there for an overnight visit: it's a completely different world, with its village atmosphere.

Is Cancun a big city? It takes less than a half hour to drive from one side to the other, and there are no expressways! No, to me it does not feel like a big city.

 

We are currently in the planning stages of an early retirement move to Cancun sometime in 2017. Sounds as though you live in the same part of town in which we are interested in moving to. Our favorite properties are located in Residencial la Fuente in SM 17. We are excited for Tigres baseball games, walking to the grocery store, frequenting the local bus system, AI resort "date nights", and various excursions!
Perhaps we will run into you at a Tigres game in June '16!? This past June the games we planned on attending were rained out.

 

Glad to hear of your plans, JL. We've got quite a large retired community and many of them have time, money and energy to lead an active life.

Mexico itself is a fine place to travel with lots of interesting cities to visit.

 

We are in the research stages of making a move and have heard a lot of positives about Cancun. Any info or feedback. Would be helpful.

Think I would like to explore a future move to Cancun or close..Have to wait one more year tho..

 

Cancun still has it's attractions for long term living. For people whose wealth is based on USD it's better than ever, with the USD=MXN peso very advantageous. As I type the exchange is above 1=18, making many things seem cheaper than ever, in spite of inflation.

But, that's not the most important thing for us. It's the climate, the proximity to the sea, the convenience in terms of day to day living, access to quality medical care, the AIs which are for us go to places for a quicky vacation and, most of all, Isla Mujeres, where we go at least ten times a year for an overnight stay or just a little longer.

 

We have often considered it but the horror stories have made us hesitant. Would love to have a conversation about it sometime.

 

Merida is our home away from home. Progresso is another great place to check into. Flamingos is our favorite place to eat and it is a 2.5 hour drive to Cancun. Just another option god bless friends and happy sexxyness.
