They do still have to build for hurricane force winds. That hotel is over 40 years old and still standing (was still standing) so I'm sure it's code for them.

I noticed that too. It looked like none of the concrete had rebar in it. That sure makes it easier to demo and pull apart, but not so great for structural strength. I guess if you're only going up a couple stories that must have been OK for Mexico at the time. If they're doing a 7 or 8 story structure though it better have a solid footing with plenty of structural steel for support. It also looks like all the pool plumbing was PVC. I guess with no chance of freezing PVC will get the job done as long as it never cracks from settling.

The place has been around for 40+ years I'm betting the concrete was made with beach sand too.

LOL, Some of the buildings I have seen a so called "real engineer" design and have built, I think the guys sleeping in the wheelbarrows could have done as better job and not have as many issues after it's built.

It would just be called SHOES?

I have been involved in a great deal of construction in the US and have said all along this won't be done in 10 months. But...........looking at the demo area..........it doesn't look like the original concept drawings we at all to scale. Does anyone know the number of rooms planned for the tower. Also I seem to recall that in the tower all rooms are ocean view...........since the building doesn't have rooms facing the street. Right?

Looks like it's going to be 114 rooms in the tower area. It's not a huge building being put up.

    88 Bash Tower Ocean View

    16 Lush Tower Oceanfront Suites

    8 Temptation Oceanfront Master Suites

    2 Temptation Oceanfront Penthouses

One thing you need to consider is that in Mexico the employer is required to feed the employees a meal everyday. They pay peanuts or in this case refried beans but a meal is required everyday.
