WARNING: the splurge-on general has determined that Amazon Prime can be addictive and bad for your (fiscal) health... But it sure can help you make Cancun "memories" you can't "remember" the next day... CY'all there!
Minus 8C this morning and now a snow storm. Winter is way too early. We will certainly enjoy the trip in 18 more days (8 working days). Even if they do put us to bed by 1:00am !!!!
Just letting you know we had to cancel our trip. We only knew a few people from the group, as we meet a couple of you last year at TTR, but we were looking forward to being with the large group at the Sens this year, and the bad reviews weren't an issue. Fall has been a struggle with a quite few extra thousand in unexpected medical and vehicle expenses. But the main reason is our daughter. She will turn 22 at the end of November, and at that time she will no longer be qualified to go to the state funded program she attends. She is severely handicapped with cerebral palsy. She needs to be cared for in every way an infant would, but is extremely social, and definetly a part of our family. She does everything and goes everywhere with us, (except our retreat to Cancun the last three years). We could self pay to keep her in the program, but that would cost $20,000 every year for as long as she is in it. Lifetime? Our inept government would pay for her if we were to put her in a home. It would basically be like a nursing home with three kids to a room. The facility is about 30 minutes from our house in another town. Not a viable option for us, but spending that money isn't either. It is just like the government to choose spending about $60,000 a year to house someone in a nursing home, instead of letting us take care of her for $20,000 in her home. Just some food for thought when our two ridiculous presidential candidates are sparring over penis jokes.... family pic at ballgame this year Anyway, we aren't the main players of this group, but really we're looking forward to this trip and making new friends. The stress of life makes it necessary, but it isn't going to happen this year. Public service announcement for those wondering what happens when you cancel. We booked this trip, like all others thru Orbitz, and we did get insurance this time (we don't always). I told them we needed to cancel, and no questions asked, they did. We got a full refund on the hotel, and a credit for the plane ticket to be used in one years time. So with that we will definitely be at the new TTR, at the end of October next year. Hope you all have a great time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
