Yes, I think Facebook has put a real hurt on this forum. Too many groups must have set up Facebook pages so now we no longer have everyone on here. I remember last year that if you waited several hours to look back at a thread you had to read 2-3 pages to catch up

I'm sure it has nothing to do with a certain hotel closing for the best part of a year ;)

I agree there are too many FB groups, although most of those are dead too at the moment. Facebook has been thriving for years and it's only recently that activity has dropped here, which I fully expected with the hotel closure. No one planning trips, soon no one who just got back. It will be quiet for maybe 4-6 months and then pick back up as people anticipate the reopening and start booking and getting excited again, later we'll have tons of new vs old comparisons and it will kick right back off.

It's particularly annoying when people use CCC to populate this plethora of groups, because other than via here or another FB group you would never be able to find people going to TTR the same time as yourself to even invite to a group. All it does is spread everyone too thinly and then everywhere is quieter.

Yes hotel closing has an effect, but it is still close to sell out, you had a big CCC group going first of Sept, and the forum has been very quiet since July. Just love the forum and really like it when it's active!

Can't wait to see you and Jannet next week, the 22nd cruise should be a lot of fun.

Not sure I understand your last paragraph Mate. lol
But I have been working a ton of hours prior to heading your way this weekend so I am overtired and maybe too auto-pilotish presently.

Are you saying you don't like the growth of the CCC subgroups?

Is it the increasing size of some groups, or the expanding actual number of CCC clans that bothers you?

He is annoyed that as the groups develop, they then use the CCC forum to divert those sub group members to a facebook group or some other host. That then draws the overall population and participation down here on CCC. He was also saying as you take parts of the whole CCC group and start peeling them off one by one, eventually all of the locations of the sub groups will have less total traffic as well.

No prob with sub groups, justwishes they would stay here on this forum.

    My stab at it.

    Good stab.....makes sense.
Never been on FB, so, no real idea how impactful it is to CCC.

Does FB splinter the individuql group?
May be a dumb question, but I am not FB literate.
Are there multiple pages for certain groups?

Ron (Texasfunnsun) pretty much nails it.

Basically I see a lot of conversations that go like this (both in this forum and in our own FB group):

A: Hey we'll be at TTR in Sept
B: Come join our Sept FB group I'll send you an invite
    A: Thanks, see you there
< Silence from A & B on CCC, apart from when B finds someone else going in September and invites them too>

The way FB works means that neither A or B would have been able to connect on FB without a forum such as this, or another already established FB group.

Gets to the point where there are scores of FB groups, most of which are sparsely populated, and since they usually deal with a specific time-frame they die off once that time frame is over. Spreads a finite number of people across too many places and is detrimental to activity on all.
