I was there August 5-16, and there were no mosquito problems. We even went down to the beach at night and never had a problem.

We have been there September, October, February and May multiple times and never had an issue with bugs.

Never been bit by a Mosquito in Mexico but I can get 10 in a minute in my backyard. I have been bit by other insects and spiders most every visit to Mexico.

We have never seen mosquitoes at TTR.

Last October at Desires RM the skeeters were plentiful and hungry. You could see the giant welts on people from quite a distance and there was a lot of discussion about it amongst the guests. I think it's more of a localized (resort is near standing water maybe?) than a time of year problem. Honestly it was so bad that it would keep me from going back to DRM

I guess it depends how sensitive you are to bites. I've been in November, December, January, April and July. I've ended up with hideous bites every trip, even using DEET (ok, I probably don't reapply as much as I should).

Ah, fuck it. Based on what I'm reading, I'll just tell her there are practically no mosquitoes if she asks. I'll fly to grab some spray if it's an issue.

Less in her brain to stress her out = more fun for all of us. Trust me there.

We thought it might be an issue on our July trip so we brought bug spray. We never used it or even took it out of the sealed packaging.
P.s. I am a strait-up mosquito magnet. If there is a Mosquito around it will find me and suck all my blood. I live in South FL and keep bug spray in my purse that's how bad I am.

If you do decide to bring some I always recommend: https://www.amazon.com/Repel-Eucalyptus-Natural-Repellent-4-Ounce/dp/B004N59OFU/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472748519&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=natraul+bug+spray
This really works and there is no nasty smell.
