I know this comes up on here all the time but I want to know for a week from now what the opinion is on whether to bring US dollars or to convert? Is it better financially to convert or is it better for the people who work there to have US dollars? Thanks!

We took about $300 in $5 bills and $200 in 100 pesos bills for our six day stay.
Basically, we tipped everyone one 100 peso bill until we ran out and then switched over to the $5 bills. To be honest, $5 bills were accepted just fine and it was just easier.
So I suggest you bring a bunch of $5 bills and you will be fine.
Here is where our tips went mostly:
$5 Breakfast/Lunch to buffet waiter, $10-$20 dinner (depending on restaurant), $5 bartender every few drinks, $10 housekeeper per day, $75 for the amazing sensual massage, and $50 tip for the awesome crew of the Boobs Cruise.
    Hope that helps!

Keep in mind that generally the exchange rate is about 15 pesos to $1 average over last year. Right now it is 18 pesos to a dollar. Exchanging when you get there can be done, but everyone wants to make money of course. So the exchange places right now are prob 15 pesos to the dollar. The hotel will exchange and in Feb their rate was actually better than the exchange houses.

What we do is exchange at our bank before we leave. They charge less than a half a percent.
The staff can take dollars, no problem, but remember they have to exchange them so they get a discount taken against their money when they do so. When we exchange at the bank or kiosks there we are required to show ID I assume it is the same for the staff.

    100 pesos is 6.50 at 15 to $1

So, yes you can do either, but pesos it has been said is better for the staff

Mexico's currency is pesos- hence imho should be the currency of choice.

We had some pesos from last Mexico trip then just tipped with USD the rest of the trip with no issues. Including the bartenders, housekeeper, taxi driver, etc.

Don't over think this. They will be happy with whatever tip you leave. Just take a bunch of $1's and $5's and be generous. This is your vacation, make it easy on yourself.

At Temptation we tipped in mainly in USD and then in Pesos near the end of our trip to use them up. We used the hotel to exchange USD to Pesos last year and the exchange rate was just under the rate for the day. We mainly used the Pesos for bus fare, purchases from shops and vendors.

    US Dollars

I agree with Al and Kim. Just KISS and tip in US$. You will not be alone. You may think you are saving them trouble of converting but truth is they are already doing this on regular basis. Also I think you are kidding yourself if you think they can't find a better conversion rate than you.
