So is it suitable for a co-ordinated take over group that would set the atmosphere agenda? Do they do private takeovers there?
Yes, you could do a complete takeover(via a registered TA) but IMHO I think you would have/want to bring in your own day/evening entertainment for the week(extra cost for the group). btw - their room pricing is at about the same level as Desire RM and airport transfer costs(even with USA Transfers) are going to be at least $120 USD per couple round trip.
We were there a couple years ago - Desire and TTR were sold out... Pricing was comparable to DRM. Very good food. Very good service. Not a party place, but naked. Be a great venue for takeover.
Yup And hire out a certain multi-pierced, multi-tatted MC and a couple of his amigos for a week, and recreate old times
I know a couple that are LSers that spent a week in Hidden Beach a while back. Report: VERY relaxed vibe, very chilled, but not really a party. They were pretty disappointed TBH, were hoping for a bit more action but not being part of an arranged group meant they were pretty much excluded apart from polite convo's. Been to Hedo, enjoyed it. Never felt unsafe outside the resort if you use common sense in a fairly impoverished place. It has a charm about it that is quite unique. They do lack a good party bar/nightclub. We were luckily able to latch into a group that was fun and accepting, but still enjoyed things without them. Its more laid back with more of a 'laxed than a wild party feel, and yep, there's a bit of a drug culture. A lil story that kinda sums it up: we decided to go out in one of the little Hobby Cats (sp?) on the beach, which you could apparently take out by yourself if you could pass a test. The guy gives us a 2 minute semi-coherent run-down of "you pull this rope 'ere, mon, and this-'ere pulls thru that thingy to make that go over there, and watch out fo' the boom, mon, it can hittcha, and oh yea, there's this other thing..." and then rolls us into the water by ourselves(!) Well, we played around and finally got the hang of it enough to sail around a bit. We managed to make it back intact and the grinning attendant helped us pull it up the beach. Out of curiosity, I asked, "so what is the test for taking these out?" "Oh mon, you passed it, easy! You got back here!!" I was also delighted by the locals description of 'milk bottles' i.e. large white middle aged cougars that go to be filled up by the local males... :blueshock::icon_lol:
Steve.. I actually heard that they just put $10 million in renovations at hedo and added new restaurants. Do you know if that's true?
Is it possible to lease out the entire property for 10 months and make it the coolest place outside TTR? Hire Chinos to put together the 'DreamTeam' of ents staff and all the CCC clans keep the place filled till the new TTR phoneix rises. There probably is enough of us diehards to keep 42 rooms full for 40 weeks.
We talked with Chinos for a good time at the Boobs Cruise lunch last Sunday. I asked him specifically about his suggestion for a resort for next summer. His response was there was no place in Cancun and suggested either the DR or Jamaica.
Sure - lol - anything is possible if you have enough $$$$ Great thought but then the reality does smack you upside the head. Having run/hosted large group trips for the last 10 years and knowing the hurdles of trying to pull something like this off, I think you should just commit it to the "dream" file Reality check, see below: The unfortunate reality is that in order to do so you would have to guarantee completely filling 42 rooms every week for 40 weeks at a $$$ rate equivalent to Desire... on top of that it's more than double the cost and travel time for airport to HBR transfers compare to what TTR's have been used to paying. Though less than optimal, I think most TTR peeps would opt for something less spendy and closer to Cancun airport, nightlife and convenient optional outings - ie imagine 1 1/2 long drive each way just to get the TTR dock for the Boobscruise(&back) and an additional cost(on top of the Boobscruise cost) of about $120 USD per couple just to get to the TTR dock and back to HBR.
