Okay, John already stated why I voted in the middle. But it also is too modern looking for my taste, and I do worry that they will drastically increase the price. Plus a bit pissed they did not really include the members who pay to have this resort. Yes, it needs a facelift but did not think this drastic of one. Plus it busted my annual November trip and friends I won't get to see:sauer005:
Don't know if I qualify to comment because my trip is still pending, (hopefully late Aug, work trip schedule allowing) but what the hell, my 5c worth: from a perspective that includes work in Hospo and construction, it would be crazy not to retain the existing vibe that is drawing in the current customers. Hopefully the intention is simply to get the resort up to scratch with proper reliable services (aircon, plumbing, etc.), add more capacity for rooms, eating and entertaining, and future-proof the place for another 15-or-so years. It does actually cost a lot to keep a old run-down building going, I suspect they have decided to bite the bullet and get stuck in properly with the view for better long term running costs and return. Dammit - OK, I haven't stayed there yet, but reading this forum I get a pretty good idea of what it's like. And boy, I'm looking forward to it! Being a full-time muso for a number of years, I have stayed at dozens of venues; ships, resorts, hotels, dives... a place to let loose with this kind of atmosphere is as rare as a seahorse saddle!! If they chop it for long term, I will be grumpy! As far as pricing goes, its the old story: EVERYTHING goes up in cost, and you get what you pay for. If you want to go back there and it retains its atmosphere after the upgrade, most will find a way to pay for it. On a less positive note, I'm inclined to agree with the negative thoughts on the time taken for the refurb. That's a pretty big job for that amount of time! Let's stay positive and hope for the best!!
It's funny how opinions vary! We all look at different things about the resort that keep us coming. But the one constant I see is the people! I figure that as long as the same groups of people go during the same times that they normally would go, the party will stay the same. My husband doesn't expect that the full scope of the reno will be realized. We've seen the model rooms and they are nice but the vibe is still the same. When they do these animated videos, they put little things in to capture the eye but in reality the surfaces don't actually glimmer or reflect bling, bling....... Also notice that all of the characters in the video and stills are young upwardly mobile kids having a great time standing in groups of two sipping on champagne....REALLY folks! This place will have drunk ass fools chugging back bubba mugs full of funky monkey's, margarita's, Miami vice's and so on. Everyone will fight to gather around the boob's or vaginal area of the sexy pool and for some the foot area if that's your thing. I can guarantee that when they reopen we WILL be there for the first week and will absolutely do our best to stain any minds of whatever NEW crowd that may be there so they don't come back or if they do it's because after they got home they realized how much fun everyone else was having. Once again, I have just deposited my $0.02..........................................
I think it would be fun if someone that has the technical ability could take some of the still photos of the new resort renderings and insert the TRUE atmosphere. It may alter some of the minds that are naysayers.
What the poor sexy chick at bottom of the new sexy pool doesn't get her mouth mentioned. LOL What are we going to name her?? T
