Most of the complaints could have (SHOULD HAVE!!) been handled as part of routine maintenance. There's a lot of stuff they could've done without spending $40 million to completely tear down and start over...they could've temporarily reduced capacity and start doing major renovations of existing rooms, section by section. They could've even made major changes to the pool if they wanted to by temporarily moving stuff over to the quiet pool and re-vamp the sexy pool. I think that's what a majority of guests were looking for - just improve what you have...
All of these suggestions would have still left some unhappy and the place already has a million band aids on it
Initially I was taken aback by the price increase, I sure don't want to pay that much more as a member. BUT, I also realize it'll still be a relative bargain for a vacation. The new facilities will no doubt be great and I look forward to seeing them!
Even if they had chosen to do this, people would have complained about the noise, lack of the third pool and other grievance's. Not trying to beat a dead horse but knowone will always be satisfied! The ownership is taking a huge blow financially by shutting completely down and I would imagine that it was in the best interest of the resort to close completely. The construction crew will be able to work nonstop and get this thing done. I also don't think it's a total tear down. They're adding several floors to the old resort that surrounds the quite pool and reconstructing the area around patio.:deadhorse:
Going to be truthful, we was going to sell our membership, but seeing people reaction on this issue, like Marshe and others, we decided to give it the 1 year test at least. We are coming back to TTR for Halloween in 2017, also using RCI twice next year for a trip to New Orleans in March, & St Maarten or Aruba for my 55 birthday in July. So we are staying for now.
Well both Desire Resorts are couples only so that will cut maybe half of the population that may think of going there, and as far as "refined and elevated" hell, I have had some insane times at those types of places with "those" types of people. Not like I'm stereotyping or anything........
Wonder if you will be labeled what kind of sexual preference you have depending on where you hang out over the naked lady in the pool?.....ass guy, titty man, bisexual ladies.....just food for thought...
"Where will you be?" "Just meet me by the ass". Easier to find your friends this way! -J- Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Revamp Without getting too techo, I think this is the right decision. I work in construction and can say from experience, it is usually more economical to shut down and start afresh than try patch up an old shitter of a building. Be assured, the owners are no fools, all options would have been carefully costed out. I'm interested as to how the 'vibe' will play out, tho. It is such a difficult thing. I spent 15 years playing with bands in different venues and have seen new or re-modelled venues both soar and flop. As there is really nothing like this world-wide at the moment, I say the chances are it will soar.... Bloody hope so, anyway!
