Not meaning to add to any flaming, beatings of dead horses, etc, etc. It's just that this weekend was the first time we actually went through all the new marketing for the renovated TTR. And something really stood out and got us thinking. Because our fellow TTR peeps are among our favorite people ever, this forum is where I thought to share our concern.

I think of all the things about the redesign and new construction at TTR, the paragraph below, taken from the resort's FAQ on the remodel, contains the one thing that worries me most. It's the word "However". Clearly they are wanting, and hoping for, a change in the clientele and overall experience. I think "refined and elevated" are great code words for less party hearty and wealthier. And yes, we all know it's the people who make it...but it's the people who are in an environment where everyone is comfortable, highly facilitated, and surrounded by a like-minded majority. Don't get me wrong, we love going to higher end resorts and all that brings. But that's not what we loved about TTR and TTR isn't going to be on our short list if we're talking about top-tier resorts, even after the remodel. We are starting to think that if the resort actually executes fully on their plan the party may truly be over at TTR and it's time to find replacement - not just a temporary detour. Would never be happier to be wrong.

"Temptation Resort & Spa will continue to be the #1 adult-centric, superior all-inclusive resort in Cancun, with a topless-optional concept for people 21+. However, as a result of this unprecedented makeover –consisting of a ground-breaking design complemented by a superior entertainment, gastronomic and accommodation offering–, our concept will be refined and elevated to offer a guest experience in accordance to the highest international hotel standards to the chic, confident and free-spirited world traveler."

Makes us even happier that we'll get to see so many at the Annual Reunion at the Wishes, Wonders, and WhoDats fundraising weekend in New Orleans this Sept. If any of you aren't going to that...why? It's awesome.

    Cheers and Happy Saturday!!!

For us it really depends on how they handle things. Truthfully a week at TTR is still even after the update cheaper than many cruises which was our old go to. I will wait and see at this point, I'm already bought in with multiple free weeks included in my contract so I have some time and a few weeks to decide there if its worth it or not.

Unfortunately, we have the same sinking feeling. In an effort to "refine and elevate" the TTR traditional atmosphere of the past is rapidly drawing to a close. We have witnessed the entertainment staff attempting to "tone down" the craziness and spontaneous nudity during the pool activities. We heard "management" expects more "refined" sexy pool behavior. Since the announcement of renovation and architects, contractors, management being on site the uninhibited fun has diminished.

I can understand the concern and what the "management" hopes to achieve, however if the same large party group that always have "FUN" show up how will a few security guys manage thirty nekid ladies?

    Precisely. ......you have nailed it?

I think you are spot on..........the clientele will change TTR if it attracts the people it suggests TTR is going after.

So glad we didn't buy! This is going to push us to resorts OTHER than those operated by Premier!

Is Temptation going to change some, yes. Will it be for the better, that will be answered at a later date. Maybe pricing out the few that many people complain about may be better in the end for everyone. Is there is going to be some of why did they do this and that, I ask myself that when getting a new pair of shoes and then having to break them in when my old ones fit great but after broken in all is good. Give Temptation a chance to build what they think will work and then let everyone break the new TTR in to make it fit correctly for our needs and what we want out of it.

The wording, "refined and elevated," is the biggest problem. Those words mean really different things to each of us, and who knows what they mean to the management?

When I picture a "refined" resort, I want a concierge making all my reservations, an attendant setting up the towels on my chair for me, top shelf drinks put in my hand without me asking, and people circulating the pool with cool towels and frozen fruit kebabs. I highly doubt this is what TTR has in mind, but these are the kinds of things other "refined" resorts I've been to have done.

But maybe "refined" to TTR management just means fewer bachelor parties drinking out of funnels and puking on the pool deck and groping women without permission? That wouldn't be so bad!

My fear is because, in the "elevated" resorts I've been to, the guests have laid on their chairs like beached orcas all day reading their kindles and looking down their surgically-sculpted noses at anyone laughing loudly enough to disturb their reading.

But maybe this isn't what the resort means by "elevated" behavior?

I predict an adjustment period where old guests, new guests and management try to hit an equilibrium. Yes, owners will raise prices to find the point that's most profitable. We have to wait that out.

Next year Hedo and then we plan on either Breathless RM or in Punta Cana. We likely will be back at to the Desires at some point.

I guess for us "buying" would have made us feel like we needed to use it every year.......... not buying makes us feel more free to go other places.

We certainly have enjoyed TTR but also look forward to a change. That's not a slam on anything......just an opinion!
