''proportion to the rise or fall in the cost of items covered by said fee'' going from a 3.5* to a 5*,, gave them the right
Not sure you're understanding... For members the only thing they had to pay is the $148 and they were told it would only go up 3 to 4 % a year...with these new rates they will be paying $236 which is $88 more per night or a 60% increase. A week is going to cost members over $500 more!
The $148 for low season was the combined Ai & Room Fee that we paid earlier this month. The new rate is $236 per couple or an increase of $616 per week. That is a 60% increase. I don't think it matters if that is affordable or not - the point is, our contracts say that the rate cannot go up more than the Mexican CPI - and that sure isn't 30% per year (since the rate increase does not fully take effect until 2018). I know - there is the "failing that" clause in our contracts that may give them the right to do whatever they want - I guess we won't know for sure until someone gets a legal opinion - which I suspect some of us will do if the rate increase stands. But in my mind the bigger point is that notwithstanding the legal mumbo jumbo - most of us believed that the cap was the Mexican CPI. I know that was an important factor to me when I tried to figure out if "buying in" was a financially sound decision. Not that I really figured that out (And I am a CPA) but it helped me justify the expense. In any event, if these rate increases stand, it sure will leave a bad taste for many us. I am hoping that perhaps there was some miscommunication and that these rates are only meant for new contracts - ok, so it is wishful thinking. If not, I am sure we will raise our collective voices and who knows - maybe the hotel will hear us (Yes - my wife calls me Pollyanna - but I always hope). I think we should all reserve final judgement until the dust settles - Literally and figuratively.
I totally understand i am a member when we book we pay 148 AI fee. Our room fee is covered by the contract. So when it shows in the email that the rate is 236 and roght below that lists what the rate includes saying Room and taxes and fees so that would be the total cost just like right now i pay 148 AI and 35 room...the room is paid in advance but the total rate would be 183 room and AI
We just discovered TTR last year and absolutely love the people there. Thankfully the kids In college kept us from even considering a membership. I hope were wrong but I'm afraid this July will be our second and probably last trip to Temptations. We're already spending a fair percentage more $$ to spend a week with a group of great people at a hotel that's below our previous levels. It's all about the people at TTR. There's simply no way we can increase our vacation budget 60% and I really don't want to cut the vacation down to 3 or 4 days. Certainly not giving up on Temptation dreams but I'm afraid it may all be memories.
To explain a little further say you paid 6000 for 175 nights that equalls 35 per night for the room. The contract price is based on amount of nights you purchase. So the 148 you pay when booking is strictly to cover food and booze...the room you have already paid for.
:bash:Im the one that doesn't understand, so premier members pay Thousands of $$$ to be a member but still have to pay over $200 a night? Hmmmmmm.
