Tips, Cash (dollars vs. pesos) FIRST TIMER TIPS?

Thanks for a wealth of information. Tipping is always a must in our eyes because we are in the tipping industy too. Just wanted to make sure we don't short change all derserving workers esp when they will be out of work for 10 months of renovation.

We haven't been to Mexico in a looooooong time, so we don't even know what things cost here. We got USA Money, Boob Cruise, tips, and Extras for who know what is going to happen :lotsofmichaelfs:

 

All great advice. We didn't really know what to expect as far as tipping and things, but this make sense. We are also going the last week before they close, and I hear everyone is basically going to be tipping like crazy because these people may be out of the job for months during the renovations.

we usually contact our bank and have them send us anywhere from 150-300 depending on how long we stay .
we tip like crazy especially the bartenders

 

So is it better to give pesos or US dollars. I know they have to convert the US funds so my guess is give the Mexico Peso equivalent. I plan on exchanging $$ prior to departure.

 

I work for Fit Bodies, a company that staffs fitness instructors at resorts. The first time I worked at Temptations, they told me the standard tipping was $5 for breakfast and lunch, and $10 for dinner. How much, and how often, you tip the bar staff is up to you. I typically take $40 in singles for that.

I like to tip people the shirts I find early morning from Chair hogs, Win Win for me.

If you're Canadian, still bring American dollars for tips?

 

I haven't since our dollar went down the toilet...I definitely used to when we were closer to par but not now. Pesos are where its at for Canadians

Why do Canadians sometimes do this? Do they like paying an exchange fee just to have the recipient also pay an exchange fee? Use the actual currency of the country if you are going to exchange money.
