Cheapest cabins are $3,000 for the week. You've got to get yourself to Venice and back which wont be cheap (does the US and Canada even fly to Venice in less than 3 hops?). Then your bar bill on top. If you've got a spare $10K it might work. I also don't think they have a sufficiently sized online network to sell out that size of boat - 700 people, and definitely not enough European reach that might make it work. Bad move imho.
Steve, American Airlines has direct non stop flights out of Philadelphia to Venice, so for many of us just one hop For just the Philadelphia(PHL) to Venice(VCE) flight leg(return) you are looking at about $1200 USD(all in) per couple - so not too terrible
Surprised flights are as cheap as that. I recently paid $1141 pp to fly to the UK from Cancun. The distance probably isn't a huge difference, maybe 10% shorter. Most people will have to fly to Philly first adding extra cost, and since it's an 8 day cruise folks will need to arrive before and leave after which might not fit the flight schedules, probably needing extra hotel stays. I just don't think it is a great idea, especially end of Sept / early Oct. Mediterranean weather can be dicey at that time. Will be interested to see how it plays out, I was told they had to put 1 Million US down as deposit. By the way, Chinos and Sarah have been asked to work this cruise.
We were seriously considering until we figured the pricing was per person might try the Bliss cruise in March 2017 since TTR will be closed.
Just to be clear: that $3,000 is per person. Plus a stateroom fee of $350. Personally it's too rich for my budget but I have seen many other European lifestyle cruises sell out and Desire has a good following so I could see the Desire regulars liking a trip that is "different" from the resorts but with many of the same benefits. If the three amigos fo it will be even better.
We broke it down for us and we could depart on the 26th fly direct from Philadelphia, flight taking 8.5 hours, and arrive at 9am. Cruise departs at 6pm that day so am sure boarding is all day. Return flight on the third. Based on timing likely would not need an overnight room but likely would come a day earlier to be safe. So the cost breakdown ends up being ... 6466 interior room including 350 each fees and early booking discount 1370 total for direct flight 500 for that one night stay to be safe and transfers Total $8336 and right that doesn't include drinks and excursions yet. So not in our budget for sure.
Is an alcohol drinks package included? We have done 2 Med cruises and that is awfully steep pricing. Especially considering you aren't on the ship much, what with awsum European cities at your doorstep and great bars and restos to experience. Funny, they fire 2 splendid entertainers, but reach out to them when desperate for marketing purposes
