I hate the foam party did it last time some people love it hubs made fun of me I kept saying I cant breath .. so looking for something to do during the day ..but be back in time for fun at night we did the speed boat snorkeling thing last time ...loved it what would you recommend ?
We loved xel-ha or xplor it's a all day thing but we got back about 7 I think and it was awesome. Plenty if time to get dressed get food and join the party at patyO's. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
I do agree that I get a bit of a feeling of claustrophobia when the foam envelops me. A day trip to Isla Mujeres is always a good time for me
Lots of fun things to do, but I'd get a private driver instead of going through an official excursion so that you can control your timing (it's often not a lot more, and the excursions pick up and drop off people at multiple resorts along the way, so what you save in money you make up for in sitting on a bus instead of being at your destination, anyway.) Ideas: 45 minutes "-ish" from TTR: Take a ferry to Isla Mujeres. Rent a golf cart and explore for the day. Cute little down town for shopping, lots of good restaurants and bars tucked away along the beach, and Playa Norte is a beautiful beach. 45-60 minutes from TTR: Take a cab to Playa del Carmen. It's a great city with a very Caribbean/European vibe. Excellent shopping, wonderful beach dotted with clubs where you can have buckets of Corona and listen to bands, street artists, great restaurants. (This is going to be our excursion this year.) The parks: Xplor is an "adventure" park with ziplines, ATVs, and little kayaks you can ride through a cenote. It's a lot of fun, but you can do the same things closer to TTR without the extra cost of admission to the park. Xel-Ha is a water park that's all about snorkeling. Xcaret is an eco park--part zoo, part cultural/heritage center. There are some really cool shows, like the Mayan ball game and a tour of the "underworld" that shows some really cool Mayan rituals. The downside is that the highlight of this park is the Night Show, which it sounds like you'd skip. 90 minutes from TTR: Tulum and Akumal. You can do both in one day if you leave really early and tour the Mayan ruins in Tulum before it gets too hot and crowded, then go to Akumal, have lunch on the beach, and snorkel with the sea turtles. You can rent equipment cheap right on the beach, and by the time you wade in shoulder high, you'll be swimming with the turtles. The towns are small and very laid back. Never done it, but people rave about the cenotes. I know you can get a driver to take you ziplining and to cenotes in one day--but once I heard how cold the water is, I decided this one isn't for me.
Great write up. We did Akumal with the family in March and loved the little town and was surprised how reasonable the snorkel rental and guide was and then we saw many many turtles. Next trip we hope to try either tulum or Xel ha. Thinking Xel ha if it is really hot since it is a natural water park and tulum if it is not hot.
you could just go have a room party. Checkers, Chess, Go-fish or a game of good ole' Monopoly to pass the time... The Foam Party is cool but it does drag on quite a while and can get pretty crowded etc, etc, etc. Also a good way to get to know other people real quick. 'Oops, sorry didn't mean to bump into you' or 'Oh, you're not my wife, girlfriend or secretary' 'Swim-suit swap' during could get interesting or there is always 'wife-swap' the TV show not what you dirty people were thinking I meant...
Lots of groping under the foam.......but come to think of it........lots of groping without the foam!
