John I didn't say I was being made to wear anything. All I said was how it was in the Blue Bay days was way sexier than now. There is way more pressure for the girls to come out in costumes than the guys. Even you can't deny that the girls are the ones mostly in theme. I can't state how many times I come out in a normal dress and here why aren't you wearing school girl or whatever theme. There is fun in doing themes, I like them sometimes. With that said Animal night can be a really hot animal print dress verses paw prints pasties and MEOW on their ass.

In all fairness I totally agree with you Monique, I am not a theme night /costume person etc. At home I never get to dress up fancy/ sexy so I look forward to it on vacation. Most outfits I wear in Cancun I never wear at home. BUT it is TTR and nobody knows you and nobody gives a shit so everyone has their own idea of what "SEXY" is to them and feels safe in expressing it at TTR. I understand what you are saying though where is the line? If some groups think it is like Hedo it is not supposed to be.

Skyman, you're a nerd! Your pragmatic and eloquent presentation of your points, while accurate, are boring and add zero entertainment value to the eminent perceived Armageddon upon us. Please, no more logic, I beg of you!

I (Dusty) feel like our main worry has been danced around but not directly articulated yet, so I'll weigh n.

We can (and would be happy to) pay an extra 10-15 percent or whatever to go to the TTR we fucking love, especially if it means better food and a slightly fancier room.

Cool. Cool as SHIT, in fact.

Sign us right on up for the same vacation we obsess over, only somehow better!

We'd absolutely pay 15 percent more for better extras.

That's all things being equal, though, and what the Party People Family worries about is that all things WON'T be equal, because the delicate balance TTR manages to provide is in danger of going away.

I'll try to describe it like this: In our two trips, we've made friends with an incredibly diverse group of A+ people, most of whom are late 20s/early 30s. They're paramedics. They're HR reps. They edit textbooks, they're cops, they wait tables, they answer the phone for the good-looking anchor at the TV station.

I think most of us can, and will, swing a trip back to TTR once the prices go up, because we've already made awesome friends there and vacation bonds are for real. I don't think most of us would've made the trip in the first place though, given a moderately higher cost structure.

When you're a couple talking yourselves into going to the "sex resort," the "well, it IS pretty cheap" argument has decided a lot of conversations among cool-ass couples.

If I had to pin down the one thing I love about Temptation, it would be this: You can walk up to anybody and have zero compunction about starting a fun conversation. That's because a drunk, trashy, happy, open vibe is coupled with an expectation of respect on a scale and in a setting that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world. I suppose I can't vouch for every single place in the world, but I've seen a lot of amazing things and nothing I've seen begins to compare to the TTR vibe.

What worries me is that we'll spend the money to show up that one time - which, again, we absolutely will - only to find that the trashy-intelligent vibe that, across this wide world of ours, exists only in the Sexy Pool, suddenly exists nowhere at all.

I'm not worried about us getting priced out. I'm worried about some of the cool-ass people we've met - who have real responsibilities, and who make up the fucking awesome backbone of this amazing place - getting priced out, and replaced by the "chic, confident and free-spirited world traveler" the PR flacks have determined we're meant to either become or befriend in their new reality.

I like the vibe. I fucking LOVE the vibe. I'm willing to pay way more to get that vibe, but I fear that paying more for that vibe will, by definition, kill that vibe.

    Steve,
I disagree with your assessment "Forget about comparing with the luxury 5 star high end places they are not TTR's competition. There is no competition". I think TTR needs to be reminded we the visitors make the hotel a great destination. Without our topless ladies, what would toptioanal look like? I believe that if we the TTR following were to choose a destination like GP for example, we could recreate TTR. Just my $.02

Monique, I'm right with you. Our first trip to TTR about 5 years ago had two themes: lingerie and schoolgirl. It was just enough to look forward to them and get to dress in super sexy stuff we'd never get to wear at home the rest of the time.

Now there's a theme every night, and even a lot of days at some time--and a lot are things I don't feel sexy in at all. But, I like the unity of theme nights, so I will. However, it does defeat that purpose of unity when you get a bunch of groups doing alternate themes (apparently last week there was a huge group wearing camouflage on lingerie night. Why?!?) I agree it's gotten out of hand.

The large ''crazy'' group was doing their own thing,, they like to stand out and make an entrance,, nothing wrong with that,, but presented a wide range of costumes,,,

to the other comment their have typically have been 4 theme nights,, lingerie, school girl night,, white night /glow night,, and red dress night.

THe resort briefly added ABC night , which was later removed, but kept in our themes .

All themes are optional , and the only reason they bugged you Monique/party animal is you used to organize them, and people looked up to you for guidance .

Wonder what the new reosrt will bring ???
