Quick idea of the Oasis Sens...I just got back from spending 3 nights there.
The resort itself is beautiful. Great view, great beach. Some of the restaurants are good, but reservations are hard to come by because it's so big.
Topless optional...but saw 1 brave lady in 4 days and that was on the beach and everyone was shocked. Very LGBT friendly
Layout is rough. Pool bar to bathroom trek is long and up and down 3 flights of stairs (not exaggerating)
Party vibe at night dies pretty quick. Show happens around 9:30 and is followed by a "club" vibe, but very few people stuck around for it and it was VERY hot...the A/C either doesn't exist or doesn't work on much of the resort.
No paty-o's style late night food...so if you're drunk and want something to eat...tough luck.
Drinks are decent, but staff is more reluctant to give name brand than TTR. Harder to get service here for sure.
Breakfast buffet was passable, did have omelette station, but not as good. Super HOT in the buffet unless you sit by the open door.
For Oasis Sens to work for TTR folks, I'd say the group really needs to plan well and take over an area and be prepared for funny looks...not that funny looks has every stopped me

Just got back from GP because TTR was overbooked. Of course it wasn't a surprise that the vibe would not be the same but I was surprised by HOW MUCH it wasn't the same. It's marketed as fun, adults only but it was very boring and NOT A SINGLE TOPLESS person the whole week. I misunderstood something during a volleyball game when the entertainment guy said, "shake it" and I SHOWED it. Like a quick flash of the boobies and people were shocked! The crowd was very old or very young and not very friendly.
POSITIVES- Beach is gorgeous and ocean view is phenomenal.
Fresh Fruit infused water all over the place (fruit changes from day to day)
    Ice cold AC's
    Elevators
Rooms are similar/comparable to TTR.(FYI, I've never had a bad room issue at TTR)
    Room service and 24hour restaurant
Sixties club is a nice place with pool tables and ping pong.
NEGATIVES- probably my biggest complaint was the food wasn't nearly as good as TTR and poor selection. It was very obvious they attempt to cut costs by cutting corners at the buffet. No creamers for coffee just watered down milk. No butter, just margarin, fake oj, pastries were just not good and the bread didn't even seem right.
    No swim up bar
Quite a trek to the bathroom from beach or pool.
Nightly entertainment is pretty lame. (People actually walked out of the comedy show)
Oddly, the beds are really short. My husband's feet hung off the edge.
No night club that rocks out till all hours, unless you take over the Sixties club which didn't happen during our stay.
No coffee makers in the rooms.
    No freaking OUTLETS anywhere.

I tried to be as objective as possible but I felt a bit let down more than not this past week. I know the atmosphere would never compare to TTR and I know it's the atmosphere, NOT the buildings, rooms or amenities at TTR that keeps people coming back but I gotta say, TTR had it all over GP. If you bring the party to GP, you'll have fun. Seriously, pretty much any place in Cancun is better than work.

Sounds like they are both not up to par...but I'm sure with a CCC takeover it would help the situation...

We were at GP early March and it was not good. No refrigerator in rooms anymore, ran out of beer and whisky almost every night. NO party vibe and 60's bar was three straight nights of karaoke. We were told that the owner passed away and his kids took over, hired a management company, and they are cutting services to get costs down.

Guys I hate to says it but, from all of the research I have been doing, if you're really looking for the closest thing out there to the TTR vibe, hedo is probably you're best bet.

As we know, it's ALL about the people.

What makes TTR so special is that the people are there to party and create a judgement free zone for you to party how you want to.

If you drop 10 TTR people in a different resort, you'll have fun, but you won't have the critical mass necessary to change the resort vibe. You won't see girls walking around with "anything but clothes" or in "Dom" gear for the fun of it. Even if you go topless at a place like GP that allows it, it sounds like you'll be eyeballed for doing so.. I know people shouldn't care what others think, but let's be honest, in the real world most of us do. The MOST you could hope for is TTR light and would be reminded at every step why it's not as good.

There's a lot of time before April so we may change our minds, but I'm thinking hedo makes the most sense for us. We've never been there but we hear they just did a multi-million dollar renovation, and they have their own diehard party goers that swear by the experience much like we all do TTR. Might be worth a shot

Jared, project X may require acceleration. I'm working behind the scenes, planning to have something ready to roll well before closing. While it was for non TTR people before, it can easily open to all....
