Skyman, I have no evidence that I'm the majority. If I were a member, who'd invested thousands into a resort that is now on the verge of a major overhaul, then I'd be very concerned. But most of us are not. A lot (no evidence) of us would like to see improvements. Most of us, I think, would be willing to pay a little more for them. If they rebuild, and most of this community can't afford it, we'll just find somewhere else to go. It is just way to soon, regardless of what information is leaked, to speculate on pricing.
So this new resort remodel that the video concept itself still shows the old buildings to the right of the new tower is going to be priced at a higher rate than the other high end hotels that are owned by them? Hmmm.
I don't think $650/ night is that far out of line considering the rates the newest adult only resort would be charging for the same time period in October/ November we were looking at this year. Maybe a new TTR would bring more competition to the segment and bring down prices slightly. If anyone is paying rack rate then I understand why they are worried about having enough cash to afford the new resort as they are basically throwing it out the window.
Grand Oasis Sens We are VIP members of Grand Lifestyles at Grand Oasis Cancun properties and in the Dominican. Travel through a VIP member to Oasis Sens can be around $2000 for the full week for 2 guests in a premium VIP room with its own deck and Jacuzzi/plunge pool.
So I routinely get between $330 and $460 a night for our Desire visits (5 of them). Do we really think the new TTR is going to cost more than the Desire resorts? Yes, rack rate is much higher than that but hopefully no one is paying rack rate these days.
As a Premier Member who spent a few thou$and on the membership I must say I am curious to see what I am going to get from the 5-star version of Temptation. If it's really going to be 5-star then I am thinking it was a good investment. I'll be able to trade weeks for some really nice places where the Mrs and I can be as naked and raunchy as we want. After we come back in June we should have a good idea of what may come.
