first you say i,m whining , then you say I,m thick, I say I think you belong in a $500@ night resort , along with all the other ...............
The vibe will change somewhat. I think that's part of what they want. The price will most likely increase significantly. I dont see where the argument is. What my wife and I wont do, is pay the equivalent of 3 house payments for a week in Cancun. That's financially silly in our opinion, even though we could afford it.
Guys do I have to get the Ref shirt and whistle out? Deep breaths everyone and 10 nammyohoringequo's... I know I can't spell it but if you can figure out how to pronounce it and say it 10 times you will wind up in some Zen shit like place mentally On the bright side; we bit the bullet on the crappy CDN $ and booked 23 May-02 Jun as it may be our last reasonably priced TTR vaca.
I haven't seen anyone be hostile towards you..........why are you attacking others? Dude..........chill a bit.......be respectful.........you are entitled to your opinion............just don't criticize folks for sharing theirs!
The resort needs a remodel, it didn't need a radical change into some "chic" hipster development. The speculation about 500/night with 5 star accommodations is very accurate considering the promotional videos plus the premier members literally speaking with the management about the situation. There is no way the resort is dropping 10s of millions in capital expenditures while closing the resort for a minimum of 1 year without dramatically increasing the prices of the hotel rooms. As a result, the clientele will shift away from the original concept hotel. I personally can afford the increase in prices if necessary, however, I chose NOT to go there if it turns into a boring 5 star resort. The cost outweighs the benefit, especially at double the price unless the atmosphere stays the same. How can it stay the same though? Very hard to believe. There is a reason we went to TTR rather than places with nicer beaches, nicer amenities, etc. There are many nicer hotels in Cancun based upon those factors but none as fun as TTR.
How can you be confident that you are the "silent majority"? You very vociferously declared this fact but I see no evidence for this assertion. Please tell me why you believe you are a majority? Based upon the long standing members, Facebook members and Cancuncare members, it appears that most people are highly concerned with the changes. Assertions that the resort is changing for the worse isn't "whining" but justified concern from people who have literally gone to this resort for many years. Everything is currently speculation, so I agree that all is definitely not lost yet. However, if they sink 10s of millions into the resort that they close for >1 year, they will be forced to charge much higher rates in the future, considering the debt implications. What makes you believe they can add 80 more rooms at much higher prices in a hotel that is geographically challenged with poor beaches for a customer segment that isn't traditionally interested in "adult themed party" resorts?
So let me get this straight.. We are now believing the $500-650 a night price point from the very same people that had all the facts wrong about the remodel and staying open during the transition ect..ect...? Got it... I have some ocean front property in Iowa for sale cheap cheap opcorn: Quit being afraid of some good change and let's see what happens. These are business men making the financial decisions and they didn't get to where they are from making bad choices. What did some of you guys want? Duct tape on the pipes and fabreeze sprayed over the mold?
