We are 100% at Pearl August 10-15 and hopefully at RM October 6-9 or something like that. Depends on the Octoberbreast crowd convincing the Mrs Get to work gang. She is secretly watching your Facebook page
All good things must come to an end. It was fun while it lasted, many good memories, glad we are getting our May trip in.
Not sure if this link explaining the changes has been posted or not. HOME - Temptation Resort & Spa Personally and I really guess I shouldn't judge till its done but I think the vibe is going to change and not in a way I like. The price will go up significantly and the clientèle will change with it.
One positive I see is the new purple theme. Prince baby! Gonna appreciate these couple days in May we'll be there.
I like the concept for the decor and the idea of an aphrodisiac restaurant. I'm also glad they're stressing that they're keeping their "concept" and seeing it as an adult playground. My worries: No construction ever has finished on time. It may be closed far longer than a year. When rates go up, the number of snooty people who want to read Kindles and not be bothered with loud music and silly people goes up, too. A high rise will put the sexy pool in shade much earlier. With the sucky beach, though, can they really expect people to pay rates like they would at the Royal Cancun or other 5-star resorts? They can't compete with the beaches at Cancun's other 5-stars, so it seems kind of dumb to try. I hope they realize what really makes TTR unique.
Maybe it will be MORE LS friendly? A few play hot tubs or sin rooms, perhaps? Just playing the devils' advocate here. Pun intended. LOL These were my first few thoughts as well. The building itself looks cool but boy oh boy that pool will be even more cold come 4pm on a December night.
So the new business model is calling for a five star resort, and most likely five star prices. One big problem... They're on the worst beach in Cancun. Definitely not five star and no matter how much renovation you do it never will be. That's OK. The center of what makes TTR what it currently is, is the people. And those fun people congregate and party at the Sexy Pool and Paty'O's. I can't think of a single post where people went to TTR for the food or the rooms. Nobody really cares about the rooms or food enough to leave or we would have all been going somewhere else long ago. Does it really matter to any of us who the architect for the renovation is? Give us reasonable prices, plenty of drinks, reasonably palatable food choices from a few restaurants and buffet, and let the party continue on. Trying to go up-scale on the wrong end of town and charge upscale prices will likely drive many elsewhere. In fact, I think if TTR were on the best beach in Cancun it would not work. Too many would sit on the beach and watch waves rather than watch sexy pool playtime. It would likely never reach that critical mass to create the party. Not trying to be a downer, but I think management is really reaching for the stars on this one. We might all need to search for a new party place very soon. And BTW, has anyone EVER seen a construction project finish on time in Mexico? I can think of quite a few that never finished at all. Hoping for the best, but keeping our options open.
