For a major reno I would expect them to be closed for more than a year. Also, have you ever heard of renovations being finished on time?
Looking at some of the plans I've seen by the designer (Karim Rashid), it sounds more like a total tear-down and ground up build...I could easily see them staying closed that long...
We are considering it. Brenda and I get to TTR in 9 days. Plenty of time to figure it out. We are already booked for October 8th to the 15th at TTR so that may be what we do.
Steeve, Time to rent that place beside TTR for CCC members and keep those Boobs Cruises running ?! (Wink!)
I was playing with the dates to book direct through their website. They are not accepting reservations for anything past 12/20.
Bittersweet I have to say. On one hand it sucks its going to be shut down for close to a year. But it has to be done. You can only put lipstick on a pig for so long. They have spent millions in the last two decades but a majority of it is just cosmetic work, outside of the purchase of the resort next door and combining into what you see today. The old bones and the old problems with those bones have continued to plague them to this day. I'm sure price will go up but also remember the location and competition in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. I don't think they can raise prices to much. There is a lot of hotels with much better location(ie:beach) and overall on another level with the shock and awe with there size/pools/amenities/beach and massive marketing they do. The later has a big effect on the average vacationer looking for a resort. Temptations will never be able to over come those two things. Many of the mega AI resorts through out the Riviera Maya and Cancun area can be had from most major airports in the US for right around $1000 to $1400ish per a person for 7 nights(Double occupancy) without looking to hard for a good deal most times of the year. Really the resorts that fall out of that range are usually quite over the top on the luxury side and I'm not sure Temptations is going to be going to that extent. So my best guess is I think we'll see an increase but not to the point it will make you look else where simply cause of price. But it may make you think is the atmosphere worth it. For many that answer will be yes.
We only spent a day with a pass there from TTR .. We only could stay until 5pm so did not see any action kick off! The best I can explain it is ... Vibe/ energy wise it felt sexy in an kind of erotic way .. As opposed to TTR which is sexy in a fun naughty way ... My wife thought Desire a little boring, we didn`t see the animated fun that you see at TTR and was happy to return back in the evening. I was fascinated by the "Sin room" .. I explored that before catching the taxi back ... It was empty and dark ... Too early perhaps! I prefer TTR as the fun is as little or as much as you care to make it .. Hope this helps...
yeah if you depart at 5pm you are missing 90% of the fun. definitely not a day time party place. more evening and night fun.
