It's been reported that Karim Rashid is the designer of the planned changes to TTR. Doing some Googling this morning I've found links related to a resort he has been planning in Cancun over the past year. Not definitive that these pics are representative of the designer but thought I'd throw it out here for people to see. https://twitter.com/karim_design/status/676465471223422977 https://www.facebook.com/1025735064...6176/1078557655564418/?type=3&hc_location=ufi RL Report México "I’m very excited about a 500 room resort in Cancun. The light in Cancun is so sensual, so romantic, so beautiful. The hotel is a mirror of that precious gloaming. I love color – and colored glass of diverse colors is used throughout the hotel to give diverse illusory effects and changes all day from the light. I tried to make this hotel a real fantasy from reality. It will be unlike anywhere else in the world. The greatest hurdle was to make an interesting facade that reflected the interior and spoke about the merging of art, comfort, and humanity. The interior needed to be inviting and visually provocative when seen from the street, as well as when immersed inside."
Those are pretty out there. Not that I don't like it, but IDK, I'm kinda old fashioned when it comes to my resorts. I want to feel like I'm somewhere tropical. I love straw huts and that beachy feel/stucco. But a 500 room resort in Cancun, it has to be it, you would think. That last pic is def TTR!
The RL Report Mexico states: Although the exact details of location, as well as the brand under which it will operate, will be announced very soon, which we know is the tentative date of opening and would be scheduled for the summer of 2017. Which matches the dates that are swirling around. I just don't see how it can be done on one year.
I've been involved with a few retail construction projects in Mexico and one thing they do know how to do is get stuff done quickly (although they do tend to take shortcuts). They'll put bodies on it and work 24 hours if they have to.
We have been in the new room, and have seen all of the new designs and all we can say is wait until you see the new place. (Steve and Janet can confirm we are pretty tight with some of the management, hell, we'll be in the Carolinas with them this coming weekend) Ultra modern, sexy, sleek. The attitude and vibe will still be the same, but amplified 100x. Steve, correct me if im wrong, TTR is one of if not THE oldest resorts in Cancun. This is long overdue...
Well when you don't have the land space like the resorts in the Riviera Maya to give you this WOW factor you got to do it in design of the building. Should be interesting and greatly needed.
Steve just posted this: At Temptation at the moment and just had a meeting with a very senior member of staff regarding the changes. I have the brand new brochure and almost bought a Premier membership on the spot. There will be some downtime but I am convinced that the new Temptation will become world renowned. Just Amazing!
