I realize this is only a poor imitation of the Boobs Cruise but sadly there isn't a Boobs Cruise while we are there. My friend is coming to Cancun for the first time and would like to see Isla Mujeres and I'm looking at options....... Does that cruise stop on the island for shopping / minor sightseeing etc? Is the boat adult only / tops optional? OR Is it better to take the ferry across. Was trying to get the party boat as well as Isla in on one trip. Thanks!
Hey there sir, I assume they haven't changed things too much over the years. Before I got the Boobs Cruise bug I did the other ones. Anyways, the itinerary is a lot like the old Boobs Cruise was. Go to the island, eat lunch, snorkel, dock in the town and go shopping for about an hour or so, get back on, sail back to the resort and maybe do the spinakker thing. Certainly no Chinos level of entertainment but for a beginner it's not horrible.
The last time at TTR we did the booze cruise. It was fun but no topless action and no Isla Mujeres. we did go with a group of about 10 people that we meet while we where there.
I believe you can take a ferry over there! Go early you can tour the island on the over size buggies at your pace and all!! :clappyinghappy::clappyinghappy:
How far in advance to they publish the schedule? Just trying to figure out date, and haven't been able to find it? Thanks.
OK so last May we ended up on the Booze cruise. It was kind of an accident, but it is what it is, and ended up being "semi" funny. As we were sitting down on the boat, to what we thought was just going to be a short ride to Isla (with drinks, parasailing on the way there, free day on the island, then a ride back also including drinks) I looked at my group of 6, all seasoned Boobs Cruise vets, and realized what happened...the thing I read before, we got duped and were on the Temptation booze cruise. I informed everyone what was about to go down, and the look of panic on everyone's faces was priceless. We tried to get off and get our money back, but they weren't having it. We all basically gave the finger to our one friend with a WTF?! No one on the boat was from Temptation except our group and one other couple. The other couple knew what they signed up for, and were happy (quiet pool people). We weren't. We just decided “whatever let’s do our thing, and make the best of it.” The trip was basically a very very weak version of the booze cruise, with the same itinerary. There was an MC and a DJ, and there were people serving drinks. It went to Isla for 1.5 hour of shopping, and it went to the same lunch place. It also had a snorkeling part. Let me try to break the differences and negative points out: 1. The MC was trying, but clearly there is corporate overhead governing him. He wore a uniform and a white hat that said "HOOST" (the joke was it was supposed to be host). He cursed and tried to say funny stuff, but it felt very forced and unnatural. We almost felt bad for him, and I am sure my group wasn’t making his job any easier. 2. He spent lots of time going over rules and just general talking on the mic. People sat and listened. Whenever he made announcements, all fun and conversation had to stop on the boat. 3. When you thought you had about enough of the rules and the speech, he said it all over again in Spanish. (nothing against anyone that doesn't speak English, but it really stinks to hear it all over again) 4. The stereo system was weak. My home theater is probably louder 5. The drinks were very week, and there was not nearly enough people serving them. At one point we took a giant pitcher and drank it ourselves. Then my one friend actually started serving other people for a while (people were grateful we were trying to pump it up) 6. The people were odd. Very reserved at first, but once they got a little drunk, it was like hanging out with people with zero drinking experience that get stupid obnoxious and are not fun to be around. At one point 25% of the males were jumping like animals on the net like it was trampoline and trying to launch themselves higher. I thought maybe they were 13 years old. 7. Parasailing promise never happened. They said the wind wasn't right (could have been bull shit) 8. Lunch was the same as we are used to, but there was 5X the amount of people at the same place from all different tours. It was a madhouse of people pushing and shoving and cutting in line. Not a pleasant dining experience. 9. Lunch did not include drinks 10. Snorkeling was annoying. They dropped you in groups, and the boat circled. If you wanted to stop, you basically couldn’t. Unless you made your way all the way back to the moving boat somehow. Luckily we were good swimmers, and knew what we were doing. Other people really didn’t like it. 11. They tried to nickel and dime you for everything (dock fees, golf cart rental, etc...the cheap price we thought we were paying, wasn't close to accurate) 12. The rules were annoying. Like I understand they were trying to keep it safe, but the way they go about it seems like it can cause more problems 13. Again the people, too mixed up. Some people looking to party, some people not, ages all over the place, lots of single dudes being lame. It just wasn't a comfortable party feel 14. The tips…man did they really try to force tips out of you at the end, and got very upset when you didn't give them enough. I really really didn't like this. I know it wasn't their fault we got duped, but I wasn't trying to pay so much money for what I thought was a ride. They weren’t trying hard enough, from a service perspective, to really deserve a whopping tip anyway. 15. No topless people. A few times some girls flashed during dancing contests, but that was it. The dudes went crazy when this happened, and we just shook our heads laughing at how lame it was. It really was like objectifying women, and not in the fun way we are accustomed to. OK so at the end they tried to do the “sing our way back to the dock” like we do. It was cheesy and didn't feel the same. At this point I felt guilty, and like I was cheating on Chinos and Steve, I had enough and dove off the boat to return to TTR. They didn't like this at all, but F them. They said that it was one of the crazier cruises, it was basically 40% of what the Boobs Cruise is. I would save my time and money if I was anyone. A bad day at the sexy pool would have been way better than that experience. But I am sure for anyone staying at a vanilla resort for the week, this booze cruise would have been a highlight. I probably would have had a better time on it if I didn’t know any better. It’s like I would be very happy eating beef chuck steak, not knowing Prime Rib existed. (I told Steve a year ago I was going to write this up. I actually think I will start a thread and stick most of this info in it with some changes. Sorry Steve it took me forever)
Thanks Steve.....tells me all I really need to know! I've been on about 10 Boobs cruises or so.......so....I'll likely be disappointed and I want D to have an awesome TTR type experience. Sounds like the ferry and a day at the island it is..... Unless someone has room on the yacht on the 29th or 30th for 2 fun people!
If your buddy really wants to see Isla, walk 5 minutes down to the ferry dock and take the morning ferry over. You can rent the lifted, knobby tired golf carts for the day and drive around the island, go through the drive-thru (literally) beer store, hit some of the bars and restaurants, check out the beaches, go zip lining, if you're into that, and have a great time. Just remember, you don't want to miss the last ferry back at 5 something. Bad deal if that happens.
In my opinion, if you're just going to Isla to have a look around, skip the whole golf cart thing. Most of the action is at the end where the ferry docks. Check out the shops, then walk 15 minutes to Playa Norte. There's bars on the beach front to grab a beer. If you leave morning, you'll be done and back at TTR early afternoon.
