Temptation people...you never cease to amaze me

Just had to make this thread after a realization most of us already know: Temptation regulars, and you newbies too, are some of the best people around!

The reason that I am saying this came to me the other day. Elyse and our 4 year-old son Maximus are participating again in an event called "March for Babies". Basically it is a 3 mile walk to raise money, awareness and support for premature babies, via the March for Dimes foundation. Well the Temptation connection came to me when Elyse said "I can't believe ... gave me such a large donation for the walk!". I was just like wow, that's awesome! (This was someone we know just from one trip, whom is connected to us via Facebook)

And that got me thinking and I said: "You know these people that go to Temptation are amazing. We all know the great work that is done and the money that is raised for 'Chinos cause for Cancer', but it isn't just Cancun stuff that this group of people support. They actually care about people, the world, and giving back in many different ways. I am so glad we found that place, and get to hang out with all these people, because besides it just being fun, there is just a certain humanitarian thing that kind of goes along with it, which is what must make conversation so easy to have with everyone…aside from the boobs and booze."

You look at the world, and it is full of crappy people that just don't gave a F about anyone or anything except themselves. They have negative attitudes, insecurities, make incorrect judgements, and make many of us feel the need to hid where we go on vacation. But seriously who are they to judge??? I read on this site about people setting up Go-fund-me accounts for things like the kids Disney trips, or even just raising some money for someone that has some hard times so a group pitches in just so they can join the vacation. Other people gather goods from their community to put together travel bags for the kids with cancer. Then there are others that make friendly sports bets where the wager is donating money to a charity chosen by the winner. Like who does that?? Great humans, that's who! People that care about this world, care about the people that are in it, and make me proud to be a human.

So who cares what people say about our crazy nakedness, sexual shenanigans, and rowdy drunkenness. We try to make a positive difference in this world, and that's what matters. We really should be shaking our heads at the people that do nothing and only think of themselves. But whatever, we aren’t going to do that. Let them keep their clothes on and talk about us, that's not the type of people this resort attracts, and what this community is all about.

we have never met but I think that is just awesome I have had a premature baby she is 14 now and healthy and bratty as can be thanks to people that donate and do things like the Walk for Babies I would like to donate to your walk how can I do that? Thank you very much! I didn't even think about linking her walk to this, but I just wanted to make the post about this community in general, and what everyone does all the time for many different causes!

Thank you all that "liked" this post, and even more thanks to those that donated. I never expected this type of response. You guys are all so awesome! Last night Elyse was like "I keep getting emails about people donating that I don't know, what's happening?" I was like oh I made a thread about TTR people in general on CCC, and mentioned your walk, and people asked for the link to donate. She was super happy, and has already doubled her goal!

 

You can get us all shots at the bar as a thank you.

 

I know personally how it is to care so much for a cause because it effects family and friends. And that is what we all do, whether family or friends.. We help however we can!!!! My TTR family and friends have helped me out a few time. So now, once again, which I LOVE to do... I pay it forward. Donation sent! Best of luck to you and yours.

Steve, your words are so true. Thank you for sharing! Many of us have dealt with judgmental people in our lives. Like you, the discovery of the TTR "family" has been not only refreshing but uplifting. Yes, we share in "crazy nakedness, sexual shenanigans, and rowdy drunkenness" with smiles on our faces anticipating our next opportunity to express our addiction by booking another trip.

 

Mommabear knows all about the kindness of the CCC community. We have never met but glad to have helped and glad to see you back on the forum! Ironically I am now starting to go down the same road with my mom. Last trip down, I thought about you. Also thinking "this could be my last vacation for a long time.
