Anyone know if they have a decent selection of cigars? Nothing spectacular cuz I'll have a few with me but I do enjoy trying new ones with my evening "starter" cocktail! Don't mind sharing and trading either. :ernaehrung015:
very limited over priced Cubans and extremely harsh Mexicans at the hotel and nearby stores. There is a great cigar store down the strip across from the mall about 4 miles towards the airport. $2 roundtrip bus trip. Has nice leather chairs and a bar as well as any sundry you need. They discount for quantity. Staff knew their cigars. I'm fond of Nicaraguan's and they had about 12 hand rolled brands (sadly not my choice Perdomo). I just don't think Cuban cigars are good enough to warrant the crazy pricing as most plants originated there that are used in Nicaraguan, Dominican, Mexican and even Brazilian cigars. They had cigars priced from $1 to $100. I went down with 4 cigars for a 10 day vacation thinking cigars would be super plentiful there, I was 100% wrong. Whatever you do, don't buy "Cubans" from a street vendor and NEVER in glass containers....that tells you they are fake, no exception.::bash:
You are better off bring your faves from home. Every now and then you'll find a decent Cuban.........but smoking a Mexican cigar is like smoking asphalt..................disgustingly harsh!
If you're looking for good cigars, go across the street from the resort and catch the bus to La Casa Del Habano - excellent selection of Cubans (not the fakes you get everywhere else) and the bartender David makes the best mojitos and margaritas you've ever tasted. It's maybe a 10 minute bus ride and then a short walk, but well worth it!
that's what I'm gonna do for sure. Famous Smoke is a whole lot cheaper than anything you'll find down there. No Cubans of course but they don't do a thing for me.:daveandmo:
True that! My wife smokes Winstons and she didn't bring any either. The formula used for sales in Mexico was super harsh on those too.
