Just returned yesterday and upon our arrival back found that all four of our suit cases were rifled through at the Cancun airport. Had small zip ties on them and they were all cut off. Only a couple sets of inexpensive earrings missing but the idea is worse then then actual damage.
That may have been TSA going though your suitcases. They do that to some bags. There are certain luggage locks that they have tools to open without damage.
Usually when TSA goes into your luggage to do a search they leave an official note inside telling you why/where etc . If your cases have the special TSA locks on them they can open them without damage however if they have locks that they can't open without damage then to bad so sad they are getting busted open anyways and you have little recourse in our experience .
It could have happened at your departure airport or if you had a connecting airport or at the arrival airport - there is no way to tell where you got hit unfortunately
That is true , but I doubt North American Unionized well paid airport workers would risk their Jobs with all the security cameras in NA airports.
Makes me glad we've been able to whittle down our luggage to a couple of carry-ons we have to pack creatively for theme nights but if you think about it you can do it. Might mean the theme night stuff is smaller but you never hear complaints. And if I need something that bad I can always make a quick trip to the Walmart get what I need and then leave a note for the lady that cleans the room if they can use this or know someone who can the feel free to take said item home
