Hi, We were thinking about doing this for the day, how do we get there from the Temptation resort? is it worth it? Did you have a good time? Any tips would be welcomed. Thank you!
Well Worth It You can use the search tool and see several threads related to this. Here is one of them: http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/34132-isla-mujeres.html Enjoy!!!
I prefer to get there from Puerto Juarez which is further into the actual town.... but you can get there from Playa tortugas or el embarcadero which are much closer to TTR. Just hop on the ultramar ferry. (every 1/2 hour) Rent a golf cart for like $50-ish bucks (Its been a few years since ive been) and ride around the little island all day long. I don't recommend doing any of the tours as its more fun to do stuff on your own. Just make sure you have the golf cart back by the time they say! Most of the time I have had to leave my license with them.... it sounds fishy but I always get it back. If you want more info on isla mujeres just let me know! I love that place! The highlight of every trip is Steve's boob cruise. You won't get a whole day there but you'll get a little under an hour or so. Just enough to get a taste of the atmosphere and do a small amount of shopping. Just make sure you're back to the boat in time!
We have done Steve's Boobs Cruise twice.. and both times stopped somewhere for lunch.. maybe I was to drunk to notice.. but let me guess, could I walk another 50 feet past where we ate and be in touristy stuff? this has me thinking that when you stop for lunch that you feel like you are in the middle of no where but if you move the bush you will see walmart.. LOL anyone have a google earth image of where the boat stops for lunch?
Check with the travel agent in TTR. They offer different cruises to Isla Mujeres. It included a meal, alcohol on the catamaran, snorkeling, and also I am not sure what they call it, but when the weather is right, they unhook the sail and let people take turns riding on the sail rope up out of the ocean. Best time ever!
If you walk out of the resort and take a left you can go down to the port where they have the pirate cruise and they actually have a shuttle boat that will take you alto Isla Mujares I think it was $12 usd round trip. It was about a 20 minute boat ride. Definitely rent a golf cart so you can drive it around the island. I think that was only about $30 usd. We drove all around the island the entire day. A lot to see shops, beaches, the drive thru liquor store was pretty cool. If you just want to get away for the day then it is a good idea. We enjoyed it both times we went.
Absolutely! We have done this many times. Don't go on an escorted tour of Isla it doesn't do it justice. The ferry at El Embarcado and golf car rental is the only way to truly see the island. You won't be disappointed and it is totally safe. Take all the little side streets and go off the beaten path. So much fun and adventure. We have done it many times and always look forward to it again and again. Stop and get a beer anywhere and drive around on your cart no problem. But as mentioned make sure you get on the last ferry back. Google "Ultramar Ferry" for schedule and rates
We did the opposite when we went we walked along the beach to the ferry terminal either way it was about a 20 minute walk. Came back along the street on the way back to the resort preferred the walk on the beach better but that's just me. Definitely grab a golf cart several places to rent one from we walked up and down the Main Street checking out the shops before renting our cart. After that just point the cart in any direction as the main road is basically one big loop. We had a blast and I was thinking of doing it again as there was lots to see. Google earth the seashell house it's on the Isla Mujeres and if you go all around the island you'll see it for sure.
Like others said go outside the resort turn left and walk to the El Embarcado (by pirate ship) will be the closest to you. Round trip I believe is up to like $18 a person or at least it was a couple months ago out of Playa Tortugas if my memory serves me correctly. It's more than Puerto Juarez but its more convenient. But Puerto Juarez also runs much later. I've found its cheaper to buy the golf cart on the ship over than when you actually get there. You do leave your license with them so don't freak out about that. It's a fun day buzzing around on the golf cart and getting off to see and do things.
The Boobs Cruise doesn't allow for shopping anymore. A wise move IMO . The hour shopping trip interrupted the party on the cruise. We love going to the island for a day, just not in the middle of a cruise. Except for the awesome lunch!!
