That's what we loved about the Coba tour. You ride bikes through the jungle and walk through the ball courts (2) as well as being able to climb the 1 ruin. You get there at 9 am and nobody else is in there yet. The view from the top out over the jungle is simply awesome. And they actually had a history professor as the guide. It was kind of spooky swimming in the cenote knowing that more than likely people probably met their untimely demise and were at the bottom of that tranquil underground swimming hole.:icon_wink:

Sweet have to look into that tour. I'm a little of a history buff so that's my thing mama on the other hand likes to see that stuff but only goes cause I like it. How long did it take to get there and did you arrange a private tour for that? When we did Chichen Itza a few years back we did the crowded bus tour and stopped at a Cenote which was cool but the. We hit the tourist trap stop which I could have done without. It just made for the real long day we got back about 9pm and it was like man want to grab a bite and head back to the room. So if we can avoid that that would be great

we booked it through Viator. It leaves Cancun around 6am. There were 12 of us. Rest stop in Tulum, then to Coba. Then to the cenote, a buffet lunch at a pretty good local spot, then back to the resort by around 3. Wednesdays and Sundays it's $59 US per person. We thought it was a great deal. Also included the bike rental

You can hire a driver through USA Transfers. We've done it for both Chichen Itza (6 of us from TTR) and a half day to Playa (just us). They also have some of these tours right on their website.

I never do the resort tours. I hate being herded into a bus and being pushed thru sites like cattle. Go on TA and look under things to do, find a private tour guide and your all set! Most times it even cheaper then the same tours from the resort!

    Good luck!:beer4:

Agree with last post, if you take tour you spend 75% of your time on bus, waiting in line etc...

We have always rented a car for a day and went where we wanted. That way if the place is not for you, you can simply go to the next place down the road or head back to the resort.

I suggest the Tulum area, walk around the ruins, go to the beach at the ruins and if you head a miles south there are nude beaches as well if you care to partake.... :sunny:

People actually leave the resort? ;)

We've done so many other "vacations" in the past where we're always rushing to see or do something and TTR is the place where we just relax and normally don't plan any other activities off the resort (except for the Boobs Cruise of course!).

Nothing against those that do...just throwing in my 2 cents lol...
