We will be 3rd time TTR visitors at the beginning of April. On previous visits, we have ventured off to Isla Mujeres (twice) and rented a golf cart for a few hours (highly suggested activity). We toured Chichen Itza, and have also gone snorkeling and participated in a speed boat tour.

As part of what Temptation offers, we went to the club scene and had enjoyed that.

We are looking to try something fun and new this trip. I have looked into the water parks (Xcaret and Xel-Ha) and they look promising but I wanted to see if any of the CancunCare members had been there first.

    What about deep sea fishing?
Any hidden gems that are on tours?

Any suggestions or comments would be highly appreciated!!

    THANK YOU! :aktion030:

We have been to Xcaret and it was fun, but not sure if I would go back. Going in the underground river was a blast and very cool to experience. The rest of the water park was kind of blah and felt too touristy.

I did Selvatica last trip for their whole-day package and it was great (ziplines, ATV's and cnotes) and I hear Xplor is also good.

I've done the parasailing thru the tour tent at the resort, and while not a day-trip was awesome.

Also for a night out if you can peel yourself away from the TTR night life, I strongly recommend the new permanent Cirque show in Cancun...it's a bit spendy but worth every penny. Go for the whole dinner theater option. I went in April and will be going again in Feb.

Boobs Cruise is the best off site trip you can take! At least in my opinion.

I wanted to write earlier, but couldn't remember what the zip line tour was called we did over 5 years ago when we were in Playa was called. As Nate reminded me above it was called Xplor. It was like $110 usd, and it involved 3 zip lines, rappelling into a cave, and then swimming in another cave. It was a really fun, well put together, and included lunch, and transportation.

The only negative things I would say are that it was a lot of driving, first you have to get all other guests, then it is like an hour to get there. Then the same thing on the way back. So the day was really like 9am-5pm (but I think you are going to have a long day no matter what tour you go on, if it goes to the jungle). The only other negative thing I would say was zip lines were not what i expected. You went up steps to a very high tower and then zip-lined to another. You did this three times which was nice, but I thought it was going to be lower to the jungle, like mountainside from shorter platforms, and not just just high towers. It felt way more man-made, and not authentic.

From looking at Selvatica, which Nate mentioned, that place looks cooler.

We did the ziplining package last year. It was lots of fun! I think it was $70 USD per person. The package included transportation (a van that picked up travelers from other resorts, so the ride was a little long), ziplining through the jungle (six lines!), ATV driving (lots of fun!), a swim in the cenote (sinkhole, very refreshing!) and a buffet lunch.

I don't remember the name of the company but we booked it, on the spot, right at Temptation, specifically, at the towel stand.

Pack swim gear, a towel, bottled water, cash for tips, sunscreen and bug repellent.

Anyone done Xel ha and have a review on it?

Based on trip advisor we were leaning to Xel ha. We are staying down in Akamal with the family in March so all are close by I believe.

If you're looking for off the beaten path, we took an early morning tour to Coba with a cenote stop last October and LOVED it! Nohoch Mul is the last Acropolis you can still climb (although rumor has it they are going to stop allowing the climb) and the cenote near Coba has 2 jumping/diving platforms at 15 and 30 feet. And you get back to the resort by 3pm which was great:wave:

It's about an hour or 90 minute drive, but you can hire a driver to take you to Akumal to swim with sea turtles. There are lots of cenotes between there and the resort you could stop and explore, too.

If you do Xcaret or Xel Ha, I'd also recommend hiring a driver. It's usually not much more, and you can come and go on your own schedule.
