In april we try to spin off the Hotels themes, to encourage participation .

ie , we won't do Black night on white night,, but will do Toga,s ( B$S) to compliment white night , so even if there is low #s you still fit in.

That amazing! I don't think we have ever experienced anything like that at TTR! It is most definitely NOT the norm.

I was there the second week of November 2013 and although there was more participation than what you described, it was the most dead time I have experienced there, and that was a girls trip!!!

When we went no one followed the themes either except for lingerie night which u have to to participate in the casino night. I learned on our first trip to not even worry about the themes and just wear anything I would normally want to wear that is sexy.

We were with the wedgies in mid October, and our participation was awesome! BDSM/Neon was pretty much epic!

As was mentioned, the week 8 or "shitshow" group around Valentines Day tends to get a lot of participation in themes and sometimes just random costumes, lots of fun people make it easy to get involved, but you are only accountable to yourself, dress up and have fun!

It really depends on what your dates are. My first trip in January 2012, the first week there was some participation (helped us locate the Cancuncare people!) but the second week there was next to none. The type of party can change within a couple of days when certain people go home. I know when I go in late November / early December that theme participation will be very high from Thanksgiving until 6th or 7th December, but after then it drops significantly. When I visited in April last year, theme participation during my first few days was pretty high, then the end of my week there was only a few (I still did it anyway!)

If you want good theme participation, I'd suggest booking a time of year when there's a lot of repeaters that you know from pictures on here have dressed up before. People who dress up tend to put the pictures on their profile, and don't assume if there's a picture of them in theme wear in the room that they wore that out to Paty O. I figure as well that somebody has to start the trend. Speak to people at the pool if you talked to them online. Ask them if they've got theme wear and if they're going to wear it. Set a time to meet up and do the 'walk of shame' to Paty O together.

We've been in April, July, Sept., Oct., Nov., and I cant remember ever seeing a huge participation. The most we've ever seen was by individual groups, and thats usually only maybe 15-20 couples, with a scattering of a few others, and its usually different than the resort theme. Ive seen people walk in in full regalia (and some I know took a while to do and looked awesome), only to look around and NO ONE else participating. Kinda feel bad for them. I think the best participation we've seen was in Oct.

In Nov, my wife and her friend dressed up for neon night (I think). They were glowing like a rock concert, and nobody else was. No biggie because a lot of the people there were part of a "group", and seemed pretty "cliquish". Their loss.

We do some themes, some we dont because we pack light. :)

Do what you want and have fun!!

We're gonna be there the first week of April and are going to try and participate in the theme every night. It's also fun thinking of, and shopping for some of these outfits. I hope there's a fair amount of others who will join in as well.
