Always tell the truth say we're heading to Cancun and tell everyone we're staying at Temptation. When the kids heard about the topless optional bit they stuck their fingers in their ears and went lalalalalalalalalalalalala don't want to hear lalalalalalalalalalalalala. So that was their choice. But why hide it
We say Temptations - we've got nothing to hide or be ashamed of. We have shown some (not all!:icon_wink of our photos to a number of our friends who have taken a great interest in our theme night outfits, seeing us in a totally different light (and not a little envy!). One friend has definitely done some serious internet searching afterwards as the next time the subject came up it was referred to as "...that swingers place..." Do we care? Not a bit!! We just say Temptation Cancun. I know that everyone has a different idea of what is taboo, but we don't see what the big deal is. Temptation is not a swingers resort, it's not a nude resort...it's just adults only and topless optional in some areas. Now are there those of us there that hope to have some extra fun while there?...yes, but we are by far in the minority. If we were heading to Desire, which we never will mainly because it's just too expensive, then we could totally see needing to lie about where you are going. It's just hard to imagine people being that freaked out by some topless women in a pool. As a funny side note, my old boss told me that any girl that takes their top off there will be the type that you don't want to see naked. I just laughed.
We had a bad experience related to this. We always said Rui Cancun to friends and family. We would take some vanilla pics of us on vacation and share those and that would be the end of it. Then once at a get together with friends who we thought were rather progressive we told the truth basically saying Temptation Resort, that it was a spring break for adults type place, just a great party. The faces were classic and the first question was... like that fox show Temptation Island? You guys go there to meet other people? Are you swingers? Damn that name Temptation. Question after question that I think we handled well. Then one of them brings the site up and it shows those people half naked canoodling on the beds and dancing. And it didn't matter what we said. It pretty much still comes up every get together 4 years later. Not helping the matter. We had booked a trip thru skyauction in 2011 I think it was that was non refundable. Well Jen became pregnant and she decided that wasn't the type of place she wanted to be pregnant. So I invited the most outgoing, understanding friend from that group to go. I figured he would see how it was about the party, with silly spring break type games and we would just have a good time and enjoy the mexico sun. Probably 4 hours in a couple asked us if we wanted to help him 'do' his wife. Well I guess that plan backfired lol.
I tell people I go to Temptation. If they can't handle it. Too bad for them. Hell my 90 year old grandma laughed when I told her.
At work, I just tell them the truth. If they ask, I explain that, while, yes, there are swingers there, it's not everyone, and that I go to hang out with my friends. And just like at home, my friends' bedroom habits are none of my concern. Plus I told them that I go with mom... which usually elicits even weirder looks, so they figure it can't be that bad. lol They seem cool with it & will even jokingly refer to it as my "swinger resort" when we talk about it. Then again, they are pretty laid back around here, so I don't think they really care. I don't live near (or really ever talk to) most of my family, so it's mom who has to deal with that. A few of them know, the rest she just says she can't remember the name. All my friends know, and there's one in particular that wants to come down... however she doesn't understand her limits (that's putting it mildly!) and I'm not going to herd cats my entire vacation, so... no.
I don't see what the problem with honesty is,, It is an adult only resort where you can dress as you wish, or not. And have the time of your life.. It isn't one big orgy, noone is walking around killing little puppies.. so i really don't see what the problem is,
Pretty much everyone on CC understands what TTR is all about.. however the name Temptations.. I think anyone that hasn't been thinks swinger resort, orgy etc... A field guy at our company was on a plane coming back from Cancun and another passenger was telling him about TTR... sex everywhere.. people having sex in the pools, naked people etc.. anyways some people at my work think we're into the lifestyle.. whether we are or not is our business.. and shouldn't be assumed, because of the name people want to think that it's a swinger place... So I understand why people don't want to say where they are going... I wish they still called it Blue Bay..
We tell them Temptation!!! And when they ask the question everyone seems to get "isn't that a swingers resort?" we make very little effort to explain it as anything but an adult only resort where you can let your hair down, meet great people, never have to run into a kid anywhere and enjoy an Adult Spring Break atmosphere. For those people who's heads are buried too far up their asses.....we feel sorry for them. They have no idea what they are missing!!!! Going back for Trip #5 on April 7th with friends we met there our 1st trip.....WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!! :huepfen013::flash:
