Anyone know of any online booking site that TTR wont honor? Used to use Alpharooms without any issues, but since that has gone way up in prices, have a found another with really good prices. Suppose I could call and ask TTR, but you never know when they say yes on the phone, then say no when you arrive. That would be bad.
I would do it via Email to be sure ( resort) . Their pricing structure now encourages people to do Referrals, probably in the anticipation people will buy in to finance the much need infrastructure renovations. adding the rising cost of the room/taxes , and declining dollar , I hope price go back down for next fall. Cheap Caribbean is another that has been mentioned in the past,, but you may want to check the check passport needed also.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was under the impression that TTR will not allow U to use a referral if U booked using a package deal on an online travel site ... am I wrong ? We purchased our tickets (package included airfare and hotel ) thru Expedia Travel for August. Was thinking that would disqualify us for using a referral at TTR. ? thanks
If you already paid for your room I don't understand your question Sent from my SM-G870W using Tapatalk
We would want the Upgrades that comes with the Referrals. (read Wife and she is the one who allows us to come back to TTR each year... Happy wife = happy husband at the Sexy Pool...) I would not mind going thru the Membership Interview and might even sign up, depending on how the negotiations goes, but would rather do that under a referral . As I see it, Helps me and Helps TTR member... thanks
Are you worried that TTR won't have your reservation when you get there from expedia? You can contact the resort to confirm the booking. If you want the upgrades I think you would either need to A- cancel the booking and rebook through a member or B- do the presentation after you get there, which you can do without going on a referral, and ask them if they will upgrade you, if you buy a membership they will upgrade you anyways. I have heard that they will still give the member resort credits if you give them a member name when you do the presentation.
You could try and see how much the difference would be to rebook airfare with a referral week. That is of course if you CAN cancel your hotel portion. I could help you with a cost for your dates for a referral week if you'd like. Otherwise, you can just do the tour and if you buy in they will upgrade you and give you your member perks. If that is your intention...I would do it ASAP when you arrive so as not to miss out on any perks.
Thanks to all for explaining the referral situation. I think I will try to negotiate a upgrade at the resort and see if they are willing to do so if I agree to attend the tour... We are locked in our tickets and time frame.
The most likely aren't going to upgrade you just because you sign up for the tour. It doesn't work that way, but maybe a few people have worked that in the past. I don't know, but I guess if it was true, it would be a very small percentage. If you would actually consider membership if the negotiations went well, then I would suggest trying to do this very early during your stay. This was if you do buy, they will give you a white band.
We've booked through several of the major online agencies, I just know in other places in the Caribbean, some resorts either dont honor some of the really cheap bookings from places like Otel, or Prestegia, and others make you pay an increase when you arrive when booking through those sites. Never heard it happening in Cancun though. I know someone that happened to last year in Jamaica after they booked through Alpharooms. Made them pay $80 more per night when they checked in. Another reason AR isnt as cheap as they were last year.
