Getting a Silver/Premier Badge

I am going to play nice and assume you are genuinely concerned. I believe I have a pretty good idea of what you're expecting from this "Luxury" vacation, and I honestly feel you will probably be disappointed with TTR. I've been to resorts that were truly luxury, costing upwards of $3500 for a week. They were beautiful, and you truly did feel like royalty... floating around a tranquil pool on a resort provided float... drinks coming to you without even asking... beautiful blue water... wavy beach. The lilt of tropical music softly playing in the background. It was fantastic - like a movie star vacation.

TTR Reality- if you are visualizing lazing about on a sunbed and snapping your fingers to summon waiters who will come running with your umbrella garnished drink in a coconut - no amount of money paid or "slipped" to anyone will get you that at TTR, they'll get to you when they can, and maybe slower if you don't tip. If you're expecting beautiful bronzed bodies playfully frolicking about - yeah, good luck. Don't get me wrong, there's usually some uber-buff hotties there, but mostly there are real people, thin & fat, young & old and in thongs and topless. You might get hit with a Beer Pong ball... Will that ruin your vacation? People may (and the later in the day it gets - WILL) be loud, obscene, and cuss around the Sexy pool... will that offend you? The resort organized pool games consist of belly flop contests, sexual position and pole dancing contests, naked tequila volleyball... people are doing body shots off each other, there's a good chance you may see a weiner. Relatively loud music is bumping - and it isn't the freshest, hottest hits. Do you like Pitbull? At night, Patyo's will have people that are dressed in a way that YOU may think they should not be because of size/age. (The people on their website are paid models.) Will that bother you?

Bottom line, if you're as obsessed with "Luxury" as you repeat so often, this probably isn't the place for you. Honestly - I'm not trying to be an ass to you.

As much as I LOVE this place, it is not "Luxury" as you imagine it. We don't come here for hand & foot service... we come here because we want to have our kind of vacation (whatever that may be) and we do not care what anyone else thinks... another point you've repeatedly made - you want to impress others with your vacation. That will not happen here. No one at the resort is going to give one sh*t if you're sitting there acting like royalty and snapping your fingers at the wait staff - in fact, they will more than likely ignore and avoid you... thus ruining the best part of coming to TTR - the people. The people are why everyone keeps coming back. I can pretty much guarantee you that if my group stopped going to TTR, I'd probably not be back. (CC rules! lol)

As far as tipping... I go for 6 days and bring $150 in singles for tipping - and usually don't spend it all. I tip $1 per drink, $2-$3 for the buffet, at least $5 for dinner. For one person. I tip the maid $5 the first day and then $3 for each day I need service - most days I just leave the Do Not Disturb sign out - I don't need my bed made everyday, and I'll use a towel more than once. No, you do not HAVE to tip, but seriously they bust their butts to make your vacation great... a few bucks won't ruin your long term financial plan, and if it will, save for another year before you go.

Another thing, how strong is your relationship with your gf? Is SHE ok being around a bunch of topless chicks? I've seen plenty of fights start between couples. She will probably get hit on... how will you react to that? If you're the type that's gonna get up in a dude's face about it, yeah... tips are the least of your worries, Mexican jail - and staying out of it - ain't cheap.

In conclusion... I honestly believe you will not enjoy yourselves here, you seem to have a certain set of reasons to enjoy a vacation, and that is your prerogative... I don't think TTR will fit what you have in your mind. However, if you go with an open mind, and are friendly and social, you could have the vacation of your life.

I'm sorry man, I can only laugh in disgust. As long as you are going I strongly recommend that you book the Boob's Cruise so Chino himself can through you cheap ass overboard, but then again you would probably be the guy who swims out naked to get the free ride and would even leave the girlfriend behind. LOL I suggest you cancel and rebook for Disneyland because TTR is an ADULT resort.

This guy is clearly a clown/scoundrel/(you fill in the term). I think he was born this way and I really think there is no help for him. I unfortunately know a couple people like this. Look at me, look at how great I am, look at what I did.. ummmmmm we all have done the same thing or even better and didn't have to open our mouths to make everybody look at us. You paid TOP DOLLAR!! No you paid minimum dollar!! Everybody else paid more than you!!!
Tipping is 5-10% in your part of the world??? I don't think so? Have a read: Help. Who do I tip and how much when I'm in Canada?

Please do not associate this clown with Canadians. I waited tables for 5 years and 99% of the time I made 15% plus. But I like the canoe joke!!!! LOL
I can go on but I will stop here. Waste of my time and everybody elses. But thanks for your comments, very entertaining!!!! We have generously given him great advice but seems like he knows better than us.

 

Are you being serious about this? Do people actually fight and get jealous? I doubt strangers would approach people or get in their space unless invited. But I am curious now and a little confused if this is true or not..
