Me and my partner will be arriving at the resort in February and wish to live it up like kings. However we do not have a lot of money and nickled and dimmed our way to get the best possible deal, combining points, coupons and air gift cards. We are students but we want to feel good on vacation. How can we go from regular members to Premier/Members while at the resort? Can you pay someone to upgrade the badge? Can you slip someone cash and get a new wristband? Help would be appreciated, thank you.
Had you booked under a referral, you would have been able to go as Premier and receive all the same benefits as a Premier member. (Best way to go as premier without actually having to buy into the membership) If you decide to purchase a premier membership while you are there, you will get your armbands switched out at that time. As far as trying to scam the system and switch out wristbands.....seriously?
Additionally the level of service is very good even with a regular wristband. If you're going to be waited on hand and foot you're going to the wrong place.
I've always felt they're missing a beat by not having a buy-it-now upgrade option available. I suppose it's contrary to the 'time-share' business model, and breaks the image they are trying to portray, but I'd think they could make good money off of it. But as Mr Canada says, the base level of service is pretty damn good as it is.
If you didn't book on a Premiere Members referral, it's not worth worrying about. Never had the premiere perks and don't think I have missed out on that much. I'm fine with Bacardi, don't need a white towel, and probably wouldn't use their roped off areas anyways.
Totally agree on this. Other resorts do it,, you upgrade at the desk, and get bracelet for premium booze, menu,s whatever.,,,Still give members the things that count like better room selection, restaurant reservations. Whatever extra money they collect goes towards the resort's upgrades, upkeep , ect,, which is good for the time share holder/PM ,, cause they get their bracelet for free every time they go there , and fixed cost on the room, and more money going in the coffers. They are missing out on a marketing tool,, but soon it won.t matter , last time I was there there was an illusion the member /nonmember ratio was past 50% ( referalls blend in so you can't really know) .,, Its all in how you market it , and they haven't figured it out yet, to do it to make every one happy. as far as the OP,,,, you screwed up , its too late , unless you can cancel your room and get a referral
Sure you can do this. BUT, when they catch you they throw you out of the resort. Cancun is fun, but if you have no place to stay, it gets pretty ugly. Enjoy the resort for your first time, meet cool peeps and get a premier referral next time from one of your new friends.
Had a refferal We had a referal lined up, it was like $100 USD a night or something which to me is a lot of money being a student. Like I said I want to feel important, feel like royality when I travel, I dont go on that many vacations but I heard from people and my friends how amazing Cancun is and how everything is free and luxury etc. Me and my girlfriend saved up airpoints, vouchers, gift cards, double comboed on deals on black friday etc basically saved on everything to get the cheapest possible way to get to Cancun. But once we are there we want to feel like millionaires and live it up. No one will know we got there for cheap, no one will know we are poor, I want people to look up to us and think "wow young couple, how did they get there" type of idea, for my IG followers. So me and my girlfriend want to find a way to get the best service like basically be admired and looked up to by the staff and the people there. I was reading the forum and have these questions: A) Can i pay money, slip a $50 to the front desk person and they will slip me a white (member wrist band) they dont care, no harm no foul. The front desk makes a huge tip and I get super treatment all week. You see I need a discount on spa and seafood etc because I am planning to argue and bargain for every dollar being a student. However I want to feel rich and feel amazing so I want the perks of the members but without investing money or time into time share. Basically looking to go around the system. B) Asking people who are leaving for used wrist bands? If we cut them off carefully can you put them on back? I really feel this could be an option, anyone tried it? C) Ordering similar looking wrist bands off Ebay? Or custom made wrist bands, me and my girlfriend were thinking of making our own to mimic the hotels? Basically we will go as far as it takes to get the best for less, we hate spending money but we want to feel rich. D) I also read people bring $100+ for tips? That is crazy, we barely afforded the Cancun resort as it is flying all the way from Western Canada with US currency so high to tip at an all inclusive is mind boggling, $100 USD is like our budget for the entire trip and I want to stretch that, giving it away on tips is a luxury most of us cant afford.
I totally get that you want to feel like a rock star on your trip. But you need to keep in perspective that the staff treats everyone there like they are top shelf. Day to day outside of your room here's what you will notice. 1) There are two bars by the sexy pool. One for all to use and one for the premier members. No one on your IG will notice that you are at the regular bar (95% of all the booze is the same). 2) At the a la carte restaurants there are a couple of items you won't be able to order, don't sweat it, there's lots of other awesome stuff. 3) At night at Paty O's there are a few tables that are reserved for members. Almost everyone is too busy talking to new and old friends that they won't even be using them. And most importantly of all don't even consider getting fake wristbands off ebay, or try a switch with someone. Should security get the urge to check (and they do) each band has a 6 digit number. If you aren't in the system and they find out you are trying to game them. THEY WILL TURF you. And you don't want to be on the street trying to line something up because you wanted the Sky vodka instead of Smirnoff. Also, you are going to be on a beach in Cancun when the rest of us are dealing with winter. All of your food, booze and room are already taken care of. Take what you can afford to tip, be polite and don't worry about being seen as royalty. Be polite, have fun and it'll just happen!
