Hello All, We are TTR repeat offenders and we are curious to know if anyone has noticed that a lot of rooms that we have been given usually has one thing that makes it comical or unique (sometimes a bit 'tongue and cheek'.) Our first room had a weird odour, not the normal musty odour that most rooms had. Our bell man agreed and we were moved. this was first floor by the quiet pool. Not a big deal. Second trip our room was 1st floor in the 5500 block. This was our favorite. very small balcony but facing the ocean. our unique item was the double shower. Ahh the stories this room must have! Third trip was 5500 block w/ garden view. This room had a weird bathroom configuration and the sink was outside the bathroom even though the sink area and mirror was in the bathroom. kinda funny! Fourth Trip was odd. another 5500 block garden view but the bathroom had no door and if you were using the toilet you would be facing dead eye to whoever was sitting on the bed. We called down and were told this was to make the room more romantic? I shit you not! pardon the pun. We always request the 5500 block due to the location to the sexy pool, cruises, hammocks and its fairly quiet until we get there...hehe Anyone notice anything out of the ordinary? funny? odd? Or maybe there is a few great rooms that we are missing out on. Can't wait to meet all the new January crowd!
lol. funny. we have had adventures with shower knobs. Once we went in to take a shower and realized our shower had no knobs! We couldn't turn the water on. Another time they were switched. Knob with a red dot was cold. Knob with a blue dot was hot. Made for interesting evening showers after a day at the sexy pool.
We too have had the reverse shower knobs. for some reason it surprised us every time. Also has the no bathroom door upgrade again never got used to that either. Last trip a friend of ours found a small baggy of green up in there closet shelf as they were checking out. Not really a hotel provided amenity but a interesting find none the less.
1st - 5500 ocean view - top floor, huge double shower. Everything else about this room was nice and the balcony was a good size with a nice view. Pretty much what I would consider a "normal" room and bathroom configuration w/single sink. Everyone that stopped by to visit, said "this room is sweet". I figured it was normal, but it was my first trip, and I didn't know how weird it could get. 2nd - Quiet pool 1st floor Jacuzzi - Pretty much the same as the room described above. The only differences were obviously the Jacuzzi (never used ) with the slightly larger balcony, and it didn't have the huge double shower (which was a bummer from having it before). We were upgraded to this room because the ocean view we paid for wasn't going to work out. 2nd (again) - 2nd floor 1000s - this was the attempted room before they gave us the Jacuzzi room described above. This was easily the nicest room. Looked freshly repainted and updated (still the same style stuff though). It had this huge window right by the edge of the bed overlooking the ocean. The bathroom was a great layout, and had a Jacuzzi tub. With the mirrors and room layout I could see this being very romantic. Being able to have the window opened up right near the bed would have been sweet for sleeping at night. BUT this room just wasn't going to work for us. It had no balcony. My wife and I both smoke, but aren't heavy smokers. So our only option would have been to smoke out the window right near the bed, which would have been gross. Not having a balcony just messed that up, plus company that joins to "smoke" wouldn't have been able to. Perfect room for non-smokers that don't invite company back...which just isn't us. (I bet this was the only room of its kind, and I bet I wouldn't even be able to find it again) 3rd - 5500s - 2nd floor, garden room, overlooking the courtyard. This was the trip I said I am not paying extra for ocean view (it was a lot more in May then Sept), and planned on negotiating when I got there if our choices weren't good. It actually was in a really good spot, and was a great size. With a balcony were you could actually see the sexy pool from. So basically the proximity was right, and the balcony still looked decent looking at that middle stone courtyard area. So we decided to say yes. Bummer it didn't have the double shower, but at this point I learned not to expect it. The negative thing about the 3rd trip room, and this became a very negative thing for me personally, is that the double sinks were on their own large ledge not in their own bathroom separate area, but really just in the main space. I have seen this many times before, and thought it looked nice, but the functionality of that feature is not what I enjoy. I like when you can kind of duck off into the bathroom area alone and pull it together. Maybe I need to give myself a pep talk to straighten up, or maybe I just need to focus on my own eyes for a moment and clear my head, or maybe I just don't like shaving and doing all the type of stuff with my wife looking at me like I am a weirdo. Obviously at home all that personal stuff is behind a closed door, but being front and center in the room changes it. Elyse also did not like it for a similar reason. She always does make-up and hair and that girly stuff alone, then BLAM I see the finished product and pop a boner. I think her having to do that stuff front and center also seemed strange to her. And watching her go through the motions took that end WOW factor away.
Ok so that was a lot to read about rooms, haha didn’t realize I had so much to say. But it is Friday and I am talkative, so whatever! Here is a picture of the balcony of the 3rd trip room, you can’t see the sexy pool in the pic, but it is right there, oh and you probably aren’t looking at the sexy pool
I don't know how you guys do it? LOL April will be I think trip#7 or 8 I can never remember that either LOL. I cannot for the life of me remember what blocks we have stayed in never mind the room number? vaguely remember the set up of the rooms... I do remember 1 room that was probably the best one as far as room goes.... it was huge..had a giant balcony! downside was it looked out onto the rooftop of the kitchen or something like that? no view whatsoever . We generally try to make the best of any room we have, I think we have only been moved once.... fat guys need A/C!!! lol
Two years ago we had water leaking down the wall of the bathroom in our jacuzzi suite. When we told the front desk we came back to a small towel on the floor as the solution. Slowly the floor turned into wading pool and eventually the lights shorted out in the middle of the night, at which time we had to switch rooms and move everything on our own. And yes, we went back last year. When the whole building's air conditioning didn't work at all. And we are going back twice this year. Will see what room adventures November brings this year!
