Any recommendations about surfing lessons? I tried Uncle Gnarly's and he's having surgery in the US while I am at TTR (12-1 to 12-8) on a side note, is anyone else going to be there who is interested in doing a group deal? 18 days to go!:sunny:
TTR has stand-up paddle board, and also they have just a regular kayaks(I think think for 1 or 2 people). You don't need lessons for those, but I am pretty sure they dude will give you some advice. They also have the small sailboat things (not sure what they are called) and wind sails. To use those, you have to go to a lesson. As far as actual surfing, good luck with that. There is no surf. You are in the calm bay part with no waves. Now I don't know the surf conditions other areas of Cancun, maybe surfing exists. If so you would probably be able to find lessons closer to those areas that have surfing.
We've stayed in 2 other resorts down near Playa del Carmen and no surf there either. It bummed us out the 1st time because we like to kayak in the waves. The waves were much better in Punta Cana. 1st timers visiting 12/9-12/14!
It was over a year ago that we spoke with them at the Surfin' Burrito, but I thought that Gnarly's son also gave lessons. Unless of course, he is accompanying him to the States.
I took the free wind surfing lessons at TTR in 2009 it was alot of fun and very helpfull. They anchor the board out at about 3 ft deep so you get the total feel of how it works using the sail to turn and all that with out floating away. Highly recomend for anyone that needs a mid day change of pace.
There's no surf in Cancun! Cuba blocks the waves. Serious. Don't come to surf. Come to party. You could wait 30 minutes or more for a 2 foot swell. Might as well surf Oklahoma. Not happening.
We've never seen any surfing along this coast, even on windy days. The snorkeling and scuba diving can be good though depending on were you go. Cozumel is well known for both
There will be a lot of motorboatin and muff diving but surfing ??? :deadhorse::lotsofmichaelfs: There are things that swell at TTR but it isn't the waves !!!!!:icon_wink:
