I live along the us mexico border and this is as high as we all remember here. Most shopping is done in mexico for this reason. The exchange rate at the grocery store is almost 16.75 right now. I was hoping the hotel's would be in peso and I could get a better rate with the USD
Marshe it has to do with how the Canadian dollar measures up to the USD or to pesos. There is no savings on the room price. The price is the price. The savings are on the exchange. Right now we lose about 30% with American money. Pesos is about 1000.00 pesos for 1.10 Canadian. Less loss. But don't quote me exactly on that rate but that what it was in September. Our dollar right now is .77 cents to 1.00 USD. The worse it has been in years.
last week on the second day of rain...we were bored and took the presentation for the bribe they offered....after about 75 minutes,,, I politely said we were not interested...he got nasty rude... so I told him 3 more times politely... he was even more rude...I threatened to get rude back... .hey... we were bored and made something during the rain...lol
Something that I have not seen mentioned so far on this thread.... on the trip we took last week, we booked TTR through a travel agent in London... even after paying a small CC fee.... it still saved me over 250 bucks on 6 days... does the Canadian dollar exchange well with the british Pound at this time ?? I don't know Canadian $$$ very well
We're booked April 10 - 19 (9 nights) next year. (All $$$ amounts below are CDN$) Our trip will total about $2700 but we're members so the hotel rate isn't too bad and we also found the cheapest flights we've ever had in April. For comparison, on Expedia during the seat sale when we bought our flights, the combined price of the fights and hotel was about $3150. Looks like we saved some money... but by the time the cost per night of our membership is added to our trip it's a little less rosy as our savings are only $150 better than the Expedia price.
Doesn't matter the rate is based on the USD.,,, If you go to the Origanal TTR site the rates are USD edit..... there is a pull down on their site for Peso,s/euro,s/ USD
Just searched Expedia for Saskatoon-Cancun Thu. 14/04/16- Sun. 24/04/16 is $1693.35 PP. leaves S'toon 5:40am layover in Calgary 1h47m then Cancun 3:17pm and departs 12:26pm Winnipeg layover 2h28m arrives S'toon 8:22pm. around $170 a night PP less travel insurance.
