Like I say I wasn't on that particular cruise although I have been on plenty in bad conditions. I have never seen waves "crashing over the boat". Sometimes waves will splash over the front or come up though the netting - but I am sure it wasn't the scene out of 'The Deadliest Catch' you paint it to be.

As for it being "dangerous" that's just your opinion and I guess you are no more qualified than I am to make that call - probably less with no previous experience to go by. You're also making the assumption that all other boats were cancelled, purely because you didn't see one.

We let the training and experience of the Captain of the Cancun coastguard tell us whether or not it is safe enough, who has decades of experience of this stretch of water. We can not overrule his decision by law, nor would we want to. Sometimes the coastguard will restrict the size of the boats that are allowed out - usually no boats under 50 feet. The ones we use are 57 and 65 feet (there aren't many catamarans as large as that in Cancun) so we are sometimes allowed out when others aren't.

I looked up the actual conditions on the day:
Weather History for Cancun, Mexico | Weather Underground

Minimum temperature was 23C (73F) (it wasn't freezing), and there was 13.2mm of rain over 24 hours, about half an inch. Max wind speed was 37km/h (23mph). Winds for a Tropical Storm have to be in excess of 39mph, so it was not a Tropical Storm.

I didn't receive any other requests for a refund nor even an email or PM expressing concern, so I'm also not so sure that everyone felt the same way you do.

You have never seen my balance nor partied with me on a boat. Yep I continue to dance on the hard surface above the nets with a towel for grip. Most that know me know this as my dancing spot on the boat. Others have danced on the sides. Sounds like you were just scared. The crew puts tons of ropes every where when conditions get bad. Just have to hold one. When it rains on
an ocean it is much scarier that if you are on land. 26 trips in and 51 cruises we've experienced more than a few rain pellets. I'm not doubting that you were scared. Others I am sure continued to have a great time.

I will leave it be at this point .... thank you kindly for offering this cruise unfortunately in future we will not be participating in any more if the opportunity is available .... please continue on and may others have a better experience with their cruise than us .... thank you

It definitely can be a tough crowd, but I also understand Steve's point of view. At the end of the day his costs are going to be affected by whether or not the coast guard (and Albatross) deciding whether or not it's safe to sail that day.

I would suggest to anyone if they wake up and see bad weather to think about whether or not they want to go out on a given day even if that means they lose their deposits (and therefore waste less money if they know they won't enjoy themselves.

You should try the Cruise again.......it really is a ton o crazy fun on a beautiful day.......just too bad the weather was bad for you (kinda like going to a football game in the pouring rain...........it is what it is, you make the best of it, and try again next time)

It's called personal responsibility, look into it.

I would bet I'm not the only one who's thinking its a good thing you're not going on a cruise again as you don't seem to be the type of person I want to party with. When life gives you lemons you can bitch and moan or make the most of it, sounds like 50 people made the most of it.

So tell me.............knowing the conditions..........why did you get on the boat? IOO............the conditions were obviously not ideal...........you obviously have a substantial role in all of this!.....

We were there with you. It did get a bit chilly on the way back which was great for the guys looking unfortunately it made for some shrinkage in the green borat suits. Before the borat suit I somehow was wearing my wife's purple thong! The rain to us just made it even more fun.
