Oh you can, usually anything you buy at the gift shop is priced in Pesos - and if you charged it to you room and then settle your account with your CC, your CC card company will convert to your local currency when they bill you - BUT just remember that they have already marked the items up so that they make their full USD equivalent profit margin -ie the cost of convenience shopping - lol Steve would be the one to ask, but I imagine they just convert the booking rate in USD into Pesos - ie no savings via currency exchange rates. They may have "special" deals for locals now and then during slow times(most resorts in Cancun and along the Riviera Maya do so) but they are not published where anyone other than a local could find out
I don't think the dollar really affected the rate we paid very much...we are all in 1500.00 Can from Calgary. A few years ago I believe we paid 1300... I was pretty darn pleased. 1500 for flights..accommodation and food...works for me.
How many nights is your trip booked for? Flights alone, direct from Kelowna, are currently running at $1400. Oh and, ummmmm, hello there.
That explains a lot,, we tend ( generally ) to quote the price for both . Rooms vary in price from 175 to 300+ USD per night ( for the same room) , depending on the week you go .( 229 to 400 cdn) And airfare from Ottawa 800 to 1200 cdn per couple so the range 1 week cdn rate is 2403 to 4000 for the same room , different dates . Westjet had a seat sale last week for 397 pp from Ottawa dierect flights ,, was good for April dates next year (ref Glen)
That's also the reason why we haven't signed up either. I think they lie horribly about the guaranteed rate. I agree, they're trying to get as many signed up as members to pay for all these alleged extravagant renovations. Mr Cancun(whom allegedly owns 60% of Cancun ), apparently is a real cut throat business man. We also will not be pushed by saying that you have to agree right now, or forget it. We won't do business this way. Pure shade.
