At one time last spring I had seen that there was going to be significant construction at TTR. I was thinking it said it would be taking place over the next year but not I can't find that thread anymore. (Then again, maybe I am just losing my mind..it is a possibility!) We are thinking of a December trip but don't want to deal with construction. Does anyone know more about the current status of the improvements?
This is quoted from Steve's FB post yesterday, "I'm hearing that a formal announcement is expected from the hotel in the very near future re the long talked about renovations. Stay tuned."
I'm pretty sure that has been put off until next year. It would be great to see you guys again in Dec!
So we got confirmation from an employee at TTR that they are closing in June. And when we got to Desire we were told by another staff member that it was true and that they were doing a complete remodel.
Does anyone know how long the resort was closed after Hurricane Wilma in 2007? That might give us a clue as to how long the renovation will take. Depending on how much demolition and construction they do.
A public announcement is being drafted by the hotel, as soon as it is signed off it will be released.
Wilma was 2005 but it was closed for about 8 weeks only. Hurricane was 20/21 October, hotel reopened just before Christmas
Interesting. Maybe all the buzz we heard last week was actually right. Based on so much misinformation over the last year there is very little I trust It will be interesting to hear how far off the rumor is from the reality. However, I am very skeptical as to whether the statement will have much content regarding specific close down, scale of renovations, etc. I am always hopeful though. Last week pearl was going through some major major work. They claimed it was just the lobby and continue to claim it is just the lobby when people call about their visit next week but when the pool bar is closed and many of the buildings are closed it isn't just the lobby
